Ice has always been associated with a certain fairytale and magic. He is capable of bewitching almost any person with his magic. Few people remain indifferent to skates. But there are people who are capable of not only conquering the ice arena, but also turning it into a real field of battles and spectacular hot games of real men: strong, fearless, courageous and courageous! These are hockey players... They run on the ice in such a way that it takes your breath away, and the blood pounds in your temples from the intensity of passions... One of these real men is the Russian hockey player Andrei Markov, now living in Canada, but still remaining a Russian professional athlete who once he played spectacularly, powerfully and brought victories to his team...

Markov's professional growth

Markov Andrey Viktorovich - defender-scorer. Voskresensk (Moscow region) is his hometown. Date of birth: December 20, 1978. It’s quite possible for him to score up to ten goals during a sports season! He has a powerful shot and outstanding offensive talent. Andrey's career began as a center forward. started at the local Khimik, where Andrei played in 1995-98. Then he moved to Dynamo Moscow. After playing two seasons, Andrei Markov was selected by the Montreal Canadiens with the 162nd pick in the NHL draft. After retraining from a center forward to an attacking defender, the hockey player’s performance began to increase from season to season: during the sports period of 1999-2000. in twenty-nine games, Andrei added eleven goals and twelve assists to his list. In 2000, he was recognized as the best hockey player in Russia. After such recognition, he left the country and went overseas. For the first two seasons, Andrey Markov got used to American hockey. The athlete played a couple of dozen games in the Quebec farm club, and in 2003 he joined the ranks of the best defenders of the Montreal Canadiens.

Victory

During his time playing for Dynamo Moscow, Markov helped the team receive the title of Russian champion. The hockey player has 23 points in forty-two regular games in the championship and 2 goals in the playoffs. In 2005, Andrei won the European Cup as part of the Blue and White team. Period 2005-2006 first brought the champion forty-six points (10+36), then forty-nine (6+43). Then he returned to Montreal again. The 2007-2008 sports year is one of the brightest in the athlete’s career. In it, he took to the ice to play in the All-Star game. In the same season he achieved great success at the international level. Hockey player Andrey Markov played for the Russian national team at the world championships in 1999, 2000, 2005, 2007 (bronze medal) and 2008 (gold medal). At the 2007 World Championship, he scored eight points in eight games, earning him the title of best defenseman in the tournament.

Knee injury

For 2010-2011 the athlete went on the ice to play only 7 times. The reason for this was a knee injury received during a match during a strong collision. After it, Andrey Markov underwent surgery and a long recovery period. According to the preliminary forecast of doctors, the rehabilitation period would take about six months. However, in reality, the hockey player fully recovered after a full year and a half. In 2011, the athlete signed a three-year contract to play in Montreal. Already in the summer of 2012, a contract was signed with Vityaz. When the match against the Capitals took place, Markov had the most time spent on ice in the game compared to other hockey players - 26:43. At the same time, the “utility” coefficient remained negative and amounted to “-1”. Even two assists did not affect the change in the negative sign of the coefficient.

Montreal Canadiens and utility factor

In 2016, in 61 matches for the Montreal Canadiens team, which was losing its rating, the Russian athlete brought new points (33=4+29), which allowed them to rise again in the standings (+29-27-5). In addition, he was able to help Galchenyuk score the goal that brought victory to the team. Thirty-seven-year-old Andrei Markov is a Hockey Player with a capital letter! Despite the fact that his utility indicator in the match was "-2", he is still useful for the game, although recently it has become noticeable that the athlete's body can no longer always keep up with his speed of thinking. However, such a decline is inevitable for any person. The moment of extinction of physical strength and activity sooner or later comes to every hockey player. Play time is reduced to a minimum, but invaluable experience and wisdom remains. And in this area there is no equal to such an athlete as Andrei Markov. A hockey player with a capital H - this is the only way to say about the experienced and professional Markov.

Change of citizenship

A Russian hockey player, after ten years of living in Canada, decided to change his citizenship. But in his soul there was always pride in his Russia, for the fact that he was born in such a great country, which he has the honor to call the Motherland. But over the many years of his stay in Canada, he also fell in love with this country with all his soul. The city in which he spent all this time became his home. “Canada has become a second homeland,” said Andrei Markov. The athlete's biography is full of colors and emotions. Living in Canada, the hockey player prefers to communicate with Russians, who are close in their mentality. But most of all, he is characterized by a desire for cozy home evenings in the family circle. After all, training and competitions take a huge amount of time. Therefore, Andrey uses every chance to be at home, with his family. According to Markov, he is destined to travel when he enters the retirement period of his life.

Personality of Markov and his husband

Not much is known about Markov’s personal life. We can say with confidence that he is a family man and a loving husband. Andrey is also distinguished by his silent disposition, modesty and devotion. Throughout his entire sports career, he gave few interviews, did not seek to show off himself, but only did his job. The athlete’s wife already had experience in family life. This is her second marriage. The first relationship did not work out. It is known that Markov met his future wife at one of the parties with the assistance of his friend. Their romance developed rapidly, they quickly began to live together. The spouses are comfortable together; they cannot do without each other. At the beginning of the relationship, their phone conversations could last entire nights. Since Andrei was in Canada, his wife moved from Moscow to live with him. At the legend

Andrei Markov, a hockey player from God, is loved by both Russian and Canadian fans. However, they are demanding and recently do not always support the athlete because of his mistakes. This happened at the match with Boston... Ungrateful spectators forgot all of Markov’s exploits on the ice, his backbreaking work and spectacular play. They attacked him after a bad match. Apparently, these are the realities of sports: fans want to see a brilliant game today, but the past is already in the past... We must pay tribute to the hockey player who was not afraid of the press and the public, came out and gave an interview. A real man appeared before the journalists, who does not look for excuses, can admit mistakes and promises to work to achieve a better result.

Born in Voskresensk. He started at the local Khimik, where he played regularly in 1995-98. Then he moved to Dynamo Moscow, where he spent two more seasons, and at the same time he was selected by Montreal with the 162nd overall pick in the NHL draft.

Despite the fact that Markov gradually retrained from a center forward to an attacking defender, his performance grew every year: in the 1999/00 season, in just 29 games he was able to chalk up 11 goals and 12 assists.

Having become the best hockey player in Russia in 2000, Andrei Markov moves overseas. If in the first two seasons he was still getting used to American hockey and even played a couple of dozen games in a Quebec farm club, then from the 2003/04 season he became one of the best defenders of the Montreal Canadiens.

During the lockout, Markov played for Dynamo Moscow and helped them become the Russian champion. That season he scored 23 points in 42 regular season games and 2 goals in the playoffs. In 2005, Markov won the European Cup.

In the 2005/06 season, the defender scores 46 (10+36) points, then 49 (6+43), and finally 58 (16+42). The 2007/08 season was generally the best in his career so far: Markov took to the ice for the first time in the All-Star Game, and also achieved great success at the international level.

Andrey Markov played for the Russian national team at the 1999, 2000, 2005 (bronze), 2007 (bronze) and 2008 (gold) world championships. At the 2007 World Cup, scoring 8 points in 8 games, he received the title of best defender of the tournament.
