Running shoes with shock absorber: how to choose the right one?

Everyone knows that the effect of running can be expected with the right selection of appropriate equipment. The most important attribute is sneakers. If the shoes are chosen correctly, the pleasure of training is guaranteed to you. Running shoes, chosen correctly, will protect you from troubles in the form of fatigue and injury to your feet. Such a selection is especially relevant in the city, where you have to run mainly on asphalt.

Sportswear stores usually have a large selection of sneakers from various brands, but the challenge is to choose the right shoes, designed specifically for running, and not driven by a beautiful view or an affordable price. There is a need to buy such shoes when:

  • Your running sessions are at least half an hour daily or every other day.
  • Your run is running at a speed of more than 12 km/h.
  • If you are overweight, you get a strong hit with your feet on the ground, without cushioning, this can cause damage to the skeletal system.

Which sneakers to choose

Before buying sneakers, you should know that they come in two types, those used in training and for competitions. What is their difference?

  • Training shoes, have a sufficient variety, and are mainly designed to protect your legs from injury.
  • Competition shoes, does not protect, it is designed in such a way that the athlete achieves the best possible results in his results.

Cushioning running shoes

First of all, good running shoes need good cushioning. The better it is, the higher the price tag. Such shoes have various markings that are on the shock absorber, in the toe or heel part:

  • Air - indicators of compressed air.
  • Gel - the quality of the gel.
  • Grid - the presence of a grid.

And others.

These markings can be located both on the heel and on the toe, in some cases, only on one side. Here you decide which is better to choose, depending on the landing of the foot when running.

There are some more options to choose from:

  • If your feet are parallel when running, or slightly clubfoot, you should buy neutral shoes.
  • And in the case of some throwing the legs forward or to the side when running, the so-called "ballet look", you need to purchase Stability shoes. With this position of the legs, and the eversion of the feet, the joints are disturbed, and the muscles of the legs get tired much faster. Special shoes are able to somewhat compensate for such “spits” with their feet.

The cushioning abilities of sneakers are designed to muffle impacts in order to reduce the heaviest loads that fall on the joints of the legs and spine, increase repulsion and thereby increase the speed and quality of movement during running. That is why, when creating sports shoes, the creators supplement it with a special layer and inserts and insoles for cushioning. For a runner, the best thing is to have cushioning on the shoe in two places at once.

An innovation in the development of cushioning sneakers is the air gap, which is created by filling the sole with silicone filler or a special gas. Another analogue is the springs in the heel area, which are highly rated by professional athletes.

Cushioning shoes for proper running must also have a number of required parameters:

  • The sole of a running shoe should be soft and flexible, especially in the toe area.
  • The presence of inserts made of high-quality rubber, resistant to abrasion. They are usually located in the heel and on the toe. Hit the sole on the floor when shopping for shoes. If you see a line, put the shoes back on the shelf, it shouldn't be there.
  • Breathable material, one of the main features. Running shoes are never made of leather or other non-breathable material.
  • The presence of a removable insole is an important fact. It should be either shock-absorbing or orthopedic.
  • The weight of the shoes matters. No more than 400 g.
