Whey protein is a dairy product, not a chemical

Greetings to all who looked at the pages of my blog. Did you know that whey protein is almost pure protein. And what is it for? If you think that this product is only for bodybuilders, you are mistaken. There will be among you those who mistakenly consider such a protein a steroid. Let's figure out together how useful this dairy product is. What are its disadvantages and who should take it.

It is an isolated or concentrated protein that is isolated from whey. And it is made in the production of cheese from cow's milk. Whey protein contains globular proteins. It is a mixture of beta-lactoglobulin and alpha-lactalbumin in a ratio of 20/65. It also contains 8% serum albumin. In simple terms, this food supplement is a “complete” protein. It contains the essential amino acids our body needs. This type of protein is quickly digested.

The technology for obtaining polypeptides from whey proceeds in several stages. First, the milk is curdled and curd and whey are separated from it. It contains about 5% lactose, lactalbumin and minerals. Then comes pasteurization, filtration, separation of whey protein. Further concentration, drying and the output of the finished product with a protein content of 60-97%. As you can see, the production is quite complex. At home, it will not work to isolate protein from whey.

Serum is denatured at a high temperature of + 72 degrees Celsius. As a result of such exposure, a hydrophobic interaction occurs. Whey protein combines with other proteins to form a protein gel. Polypeptides obtained in this way may cause allergies in some people. This protein is sold as a dietary supplement. This is a powder product.

Due to the fact that whey protein is called a dietary supplement, many people think that it is steroids or something else chemical. I want to reassure you - this is a natural product, not chemistry. And steroids are products of anabolic action. Anabolics increase metabolism, they are always based on hormones. Whey polypeptides are proteins isolated from dairy products of animal origin. They have nothing to do with hormones!

Types of whey protein, which is better

There are three main forms of whey protein today. These are concentrate, isolate and hydrolyzate. These forms differ in the technology of filtration and processing of the dairy product. Mixtures do not have the same percentage of pure polypeptide. Due to the different production technology, there may be impurities in their composition. Such as fat, milk sugar, immunoglobulins.

What is the composition of these forms of whey protein:

  • Concentrate This is the cheapest of the three protein powders. It has the least polypeptides per 100 g. The percentage of protein is 55 - 89%. The rest comes from fats, lactose and beneficial peptides. The concentrate has a mild milky taste. This supplement takes the longest to digest. It can take up to 4 hours to digest.
  • Isolate(isolated protein) - a more expensive and high-quality product. It contains about 90% protein. Small amounts of fat and lactose may be present. The production of this additive is more expensive. Like the concentrate, the taste of the isolate is pleasant. It can be absorbed from 30 minutes to 2 hours. It directly depends on its composition.
  • Whey protein hydrolyzate- digested from 10 minutes to half an hour. It contains up to 97% protein. A feature of the hydrolyzed protein is its structure. In powder it is already broken down to amino acids. That is why it is absorbed so quickly. The body spends much less time breaking down protein. Unlike concentrate and isolate, it has a bitter taste.

From all of the above, we can conclude that the isolate is still the best choice. The price does not bite as much as that of the hydrolyzate. The second, according to experts, is best by 10-15% in quality than the isolate. At the same time, the isolated protein has a pleasant taste, unlike the hydrolyzate.

Why is protein powder so good?

Polypeptides derived from dairy products are very beneficial. This is a godsend for those who need an additional source of protein. At the same time, you do not need to give up proteins that are part of other products. Just powdered amino acids are absorbed almost completely. A few tablespoons of this supplement will give their daily allowance. Here are the main benefits of this supplement:

  • promotes weight loss ();
  • helps to increase muscles;
  • promotes the production of glutathione (the main antioxidant in our body);
  • facilitates the course of the disease with HIV infection;
  • lowers the content of triglycerides (fats because of which we get better);
  • lowers cholesterol levels;
  • increases the production of antibodies (improves immunity);
  • gives athletes additional energy;
  • quickly restores strength after training.

You know that amino acids are necessary for our body and in particular. They perform various important functions. This supplement provides our body with amino acids such as valine, leucine and isoleucine.

soy protein. There may be problems with the absorption of polypeptides. Or rather, with their number. Our body is able to absorb no more than 9 grams of protein per hour.

If you take these cocktails often, some of the substances will not be digested. Polypeptides that are not digested undergo bacterial putrefaction in the colon. And this leads to indigestion. Gases, bloating, stool disorder may disturb. Sweeteners can also have a negative effect on digestion. They are often added to cheap cocktails.

Care should be taken when taking sports nutrition with kidney disease. Diseased kidneys do not remove metabolic products from the body. As you know, these products contain nitrogen. Amino acids are the main source of nitrogenous compounds. These compounds are formed during the breakdown of proteins. That is why people with diseased kidneys are advised to limit their intake of amino acids.

SECRETS OF A Slender Figure

How to take for mass gain

This dietary supplement is indeed taken to build muscle. It is suitable not only for athletes and bodybuilders.

Anyone who regularly visits the gym, it will also be useful. How does an isolated protein affect muscle mass? Everything is very simple. The powder supplement provides the body with all the amino acids that are involved in muscle growth.

And polypeptides stimulate the release of a hormone that stimulates the growth of muscle tissue. That hormone is insulin. The amino acid leucine, which is also found in powder nutrition, stimulates muscle protein synthesis. Efficiency is increased when the supplement is taken immediately after training. Although many fitness trainers advise taking it before and during sports. It has been proven that the synthesis of polypeptides reaches its maximum peak after exercise.

In this case, in no case should you completely exclude proteins from the diet. Mass gain requires more than isolated or concentrated protein. But also the one that is in our usual products. At the same time, studies have shown an ambiguous effect of polypeptides on muscles and muscle strength. Athletes who consumed a lot of meat, milk, eggs had minimal effectiveness from protein powder. In their body, so it was in abundance. And yet, for many, the supplement is effective.

Can you take protein while losing weight?

For those who are losing weight, such a nutritional supplement will come in handy. It has long been proven that polypeptides allow you to get rid of extra pounds. This is evidenced by successful diets based on.

Why is this sports nutrition so useful? Polypeptides increase metabolism by almost 100 calories per day. Simply put, eating them you expend calories. And this leads to the fact that you can eat 300-400 calories less.

Research has proven this. If protein makes up 25% of your total diet, you will eat 60% less. It happens then that it saturates the body well. That is why the feeling of hunger disappears. Moreover, the desire to snack at night decreases by 2 times. How important is this for weight loss?

The use of sports nutrition + training helps to lose up to 4 kg in a couple of weeks. At the same time, muscle mass is preserved. And with intensive training even increases. After all, it is known that leucine, which is found in whey protein, stimulates the oxidation of fatty acids. This results in weight loss and fat loss without loss of muscle mass.
