How yoga therapy can change our attitude to health. How Yoga Causes Serious Diseases

Yoga classes contribute to the prevention of physical and mental health of a person. Practicing yoga, a person strengthens the immune system, normalizes the activity of the nervous system, becomes less susceptible to infections and various factors that can weaken the body.

The cause of many diseases is the effect of the mental state on the physical body. First of all, the most sensitive and weak organs and systems suffer. Yoga is effective in the treatment of many diseases.

Yoga does not interfere with or interfere with other therapies. It treats cardiovascular, neurological, skin, gastrointestinal and allergic diseases. In yoga therapy, sets of exercises have been developed for people with increased nervous excitability, fatigue, insomnia, depression and anxiety, hyperventilation syndrome, alcoholism, bulimia and anorexia, and drug addiction. There are several exercises for the treatment of epilepsy. Meditative techniques can prevent the development of hypertension, restore high blood pressure to normal, or reduce the need for antihypertensive drugs. Yoga helps reduce the frequency and duration of asthma attacks, normalize blood sugar levels, and lose weight. During yoga, intestinal peristalsis is stimulated, thereby eliminating the tendency to constipation. The normal functioning of the kidneys is restored, additional washing and filtering of blood in the kidneys are provided. Due to breathing exercises, the blood is better saturated with oxygen. Some yoga complexes can cure immunodeficiency, including those associated with HIV infection. Yoga therapy is good for chronic fatigue syndrome. A number of exercises (asanas) are designed to improve the quality of life of men, prevent impotence and prostatitis. Yoga is also used in women to improve the physiological course of menstruation, reduce pain during menstruation, and the severity of premenstrual syndrome. Asana complexes have been developed for women suffering from metrorrhagia, leucorrhea, amenorrhea, menorrhagia, uterine prolapse, and infertility.

Yoga exercises help with menopause, pregnancy and childbirth.

In Indo-Tibetan medicine, there are algorithms for diagnosing and compiling multicomponent treatment options to eliminate diseases. These algorithms are aimed at identifying "hot-cold" syndromes, assessing the functional states of the body's regulatory systems (doshas), as well as the state of all organs and tissues. The yoga therapy algorithm includes 6 stages:

1) determination of the ratio of "heat and cold" in the body;

2) the choice of exercises and modes of practice that maintain the balance of "heat and cold";

3) determining the ratio of doshas;

4) the choice of ways to balance the doshas (asanas, kriyas);

5) determination of diseased organs or systems (if there are no diseased zones, then it is necessary to identify places of least resistance that can become foci of the disease);

6) the choice of a method for treating diseased organs and strengthening "weak spots".

Each stage is divided into diagnostics and correction.

People are "hot"(sympathetics) the static mode is more suitable, with long-term fixation in asanas, based on exercises like "shavasana" (horizontal body position), aimed at strengthening the parasympathetic tone. Particular emphasis in asanas should be placed on the torso. A 5-10-minute relaxation in “sha-shankasana” works similarly. The breathing technique "chandra-bhedana" (breathing through the left nostril) is also successfully applied.

People of "cold"(for parasympathetics) the dynamic mode is better, with the preliminary performance of exercises such as “surya namaskar” in all variants, “sukshma vyayama” or the “pawanmuktasana” cycle. Particular emphasis is placed on the deflections of the body. Surya-bhedana (breathing through the right nostril) is widely used.

Knowing your own type of dosha state allows a person to adjust lifestyle, diet, individual yoga classes to achieve the perfect balance. In oriental medicine, there are many special diagnostics: pulse in the urine, in the appearance of a person, by the methods of functional tests (adrenaline, insulin, etc.).

An effective means of aligning the doshas are the cleansing practices of yoga - kriyas and karma. Of these, bowel cleansing (basti), stomach cleansing (vamana-dhauti) and through washing of the digestive tract (shankh prakshalana) have the strongest effect on the doshas. This is followed by vamana-dhauti, which reduces kapha, basti - reduces vata, shankh-prakshalana (sahaj-basti-kriya) - pita. It is especially important to choose kriyas according to your temperament.

Applying the algorithm, you must first determine the existing and possible deviations in the functioning of the organs and, accordingly, select asanas for influencing diseased organs.

Bronchial asthma

Bronchial asthma is a very common disease. Recurring infectious diseases, emotional disturbances, allergic predisposition, heredity can contribute to the appearance of asthma. Often, under the influence of allergens, the patient may experience bronchospasm, which causes difficulty breathing.

Yoga helps reduce the frequency and duration of these spasms or asthma attacks. In case of bronchial asthma, yoga therapy recommends the following set of measures:

1) perform a health yoga complex once a day;

2) apply daily fasting once a week;

3) perform cleansing enemas 2 times a week;

4) Avoid overeating, especially at night.

A particularly rapid effect occurs with a cleansing diet, short fasting (from 3 to 10 days).

From the diet of patients with bronchial asthma, it is necessary to exclude absolutely all spices, spicy seasonings or foods that cause allergies. Do not drink more than 2 cups of tea or coffee per day, and also drink water in bed before getting up. The diet should include fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs and sprouted grains.

The complex of health yoga should include the following asanas: sirshasana, pashsana, vakrasana, matshiasana, janurasana, urdhva mukha svasana, januasana, uddiyana bandha, ujayi, uttanasana, salamba sarvangasana, maha mudra, janu shirshisana, pashimottanasana, shalabahasana, padmasana.

Yogic meditations and kriyas can also greatly improve the condition of asthma patients. However, with the help of yoga alone today, unfortunately, it is impossible to cure bronchial asthma. Yoga only helps and enhances the therapeutic complex effect.

Diseases of the upper respiratory tract

In chronic pharyngitis (inflammation of the pharynx), tonsillitis (chronic inflammation of the tonsils), you need to perform "neti", "kunjala", exercises for the neck "mane shaktivard-hak", "sinhasana" 1-2 times daily.

Patients who have a chronic runny nose or sinusitis (inflammation of the paranasal sinuses) should perform neti kriya with water and a rubber band. Neti kriya can be done with salt water, diluted milk and diluted honey.

With tracheitis, cough is well relieved by performing the following asanas: salamba sarvangasana, janurasana, maha mudra, ujjayi, adho mukha svanasana, pashasana, supta virasana, baddha konasa.

hypertension and yoga

The amount of blood pressure depends on many factors. One of these factors is stress, which, by acting on the brain, forces the endocrine glands, in particular the adrenal glands, to produce more hormones. An increase in blood pressure not only damages blood vessels, but also increases the risk of blockage of the coronary arteries, which can lead to coronary thrombosis, myocardial infarction.

In modern medicine, there are many drugs to lower blood pressure. But many of them have various side effects and can be completely contraindicated, or they will cause a lot of inconvenience during treatment. That is why more and more preference is given to methods that reduce pressure, but without side effects. One of these methods is yoga, which, in addition to treating hypertension, can also calm and relax.

During yoga classes, the condition improves, headaches, dizziness, nervousness, irritability, and sleep disturbances disappear. The general well-being of the patient improves. Meditation techniques can prevent the occurrence of hypertension, reduce the need for antihypertensive drugs. For the treatment of hypertension, yogic or transcendental meditation or a modified relaxation technique is used. An effective effect on hypertension is provided by the "biofeedback" technique. The treatment of simple hypertension is to conduct meditation: ajapa japa, antarmouna.

The following asanas are recommended: shavasana, halasana, pashimottanasana, supta virasana, kapolya shaktivardhak, karna shaktivardhak, janu shirshisana, padmasana, pranayama: ud-jayi, nadi shodhana, brahmari, sheetali, sitkari, shatkriya: neti, lagu shankhaprakshalana (for constipation ).

The amount of salt should be reduced; food should be vegetarian, free from saturated fats, spices, refined foods. Dinner should be light, sparse and taken at sunset.

Diabetes

Diabetes often occurs in people who have reached middle age. It is characterized by the fact that it can be inherited and found at a certain age. Many people with hereditary diabetes develop it at an early age. Modern pathogenetic treatment of diabetes mellitus is focused on the maximum allowable compensation of those metabolic disorders that occur in the body due to absolute or relative insulin deficiency. Currently, there are three ways to achieve diabetes compensation: diet therapy, drug treatment, dosed physical activity.

But even after taking special medications, a diabetic patient must live as prescribed by diet and exercise. Although yoga is not able to completely get rid of diabetes, it can be used to control the manifestation of its main symptoms and avoid complications.

Nutrition for diabetes should consist of cereals, legumes, vegetables, fruits, cottage cheese, milk and ghee. The calorie content of food should not exceed 2800 calories with approximately 290 g of carbohydrates. The last meal is allowed no later than 2 hours before bedtime. Four meals a day, you should eat every 4-5 hours.

An approximate daily set of products for patients with diabetes:

1) tomato or apple (from sour varieties of apples) juice - 1-2 cups;

2) sprouted grains - 2 tbsp. l.;

3) wheat bread - 3-4 slices (about 200 g);

5) vegetable salad (at least 2 tablespoons);

6) soup (preferably vegetable);

7) apple - 1-2;

8) green beans or other legumes (150–200 g);

9) fish or liver (70-90 g) - for non-vegetarians; 10) cheese (40–50 g);

11) tea or coffee without sugar - 2 glasses a day.

When choosing exercises, it is advisable to use the most accessible ones, which should be performed in a gentle mode and in lightweight versions.

The following asanas are recommended: mayurasana, janurasana, halasana, chakrasana, supta virasana, shalabhasana, paripurna and ardha navasana, uttanasana, purna sarpasana, pashimottanasana, padangustasana, padahasta sana, nauli, ardha matshiendrasana, pashasana, sirshasana , salamba sarvanga-sana, maha mudra, shavasana, kneeling head pose, camel and rabbit pairs, dog and snake.

The proposed asanas effectively affect the state of the endocrine, cardiovascular and immune systems, normalize the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, increase the effectiveness of insulin, reduce the need for food intake, and improve muscle tone. The normalization of the patient's weight occurs as if automatically, without strong-willed attitudes and other habitual violent measures. The most important aspect of any yoga exercise is the breathing technique in doing it. In each exercise, you need to breathe in a certain way, as this increases the flow of oxygen into the blood, removes toxic substances from the muscles and promotes the flow of nutrients to the brain.

It is also desirable to use kriyas: kunjala, shank-prakshalana, vastra dhauti, baghi, jalabasti and nauli; sukshma vyayama, which consists of ten shock-shakti vikasak exercises; yogic sthula vyayama, including sarvanga pushti and hrid gati. Of the poses that stimulate the activity of the pancreas, the triple cobra - locust - onion is used. The latter is characterized in Indian texts as

"eradicating diabetes". Asanas are also used that normalize the activity of the thymus, thyroid gland, pituitary gland, compensating for an immunodeficiency state (shoulderstand + fish, sphinx).

Yoga exercises gently tone and give the figure a beautiful shape, improve posture and flexibility. Yoga teaches you to instantly relax, which relieves any stress well. The daily practice of meditation promotes the release of one's "I", maintaining calmness in any circumstances. By following the recommendations of yoga, by changing your habitual lifestyle, a person can improve the quality of life, and this is important in such a disease.

overweight and yoga

It becomes harder and harder for a person to move and more and more there is a need for food. People who are overweight, before starting to practice yoga, you must first tune in to a healthy lifestyle, to diet, to give up bad habits. The diet prescribed by yoga is as follows:

In choosing exercises, start with the main complex, and then perform special exercises.

If you are overweight, it is desirable to carry out the following asanas: halasana, airplane pose, rising cobra pose, as well as poses for stretching body parts with fatty deposits in combination with aerobic exercise. In addition to asanas, bandhas, mudras and pranayamas are also performed.

Depression

Depression affects both men and women. The state of depression is an indispensable companion of any disease. Depression is a kind of warning, a sign that you need to pay attention to your health.

With depression, it is best to start a set of basic exercises or take at least three warm-up exercises from it. For depression, the following asanas are recommended: vriksasana (tree pose), matarajasana (royal pose), ardha matsyendrasana, pashimottanasana, vat naristan shaktivardhak, sirshasana, shavasana. These exercises stimulate the production of endorphins in the brain, saturate the blood with oxygen, improve blood circulation, and increase resistance to stressful situations.

Yoga breathing techniques provide the brain and other parts of the body with additional oxygen, bringing a spirit of renewal and forcing depression to recede. Complete relaxation and meditation open access to a source of inner strength that will support you and ensure the ability to overcome any adversity in life. Yoga exercises should be enjoyable, which greatly delays depression. Good food can also greatly alleviate the oppressive feeling, but at the same time avoid taking substances of an exciting nature.

Phlebeurysm

A disease characterized by an uneven increase in the lumen and length of the veins, their tortuosity, the formation of nodes in the areas of thinning of the venous wall. More common in women. Predisposing factors for the occurrence of varicose veins are congenital weakness of the connective tissue of the vein wall, the inferiority of their valvular apparatus, and hormonal disorders. The disease can progress if this is facilitated by certain conditions that interfere with the outflow of blood through the venous system, namely: prolonged stay on the legs associated with professional activities, compression of the pelvic veins by the pregnant uterus, congestion.

Yoga therapy offers techniques for patients with varicose veins. This is breathing according to the yoga system in combination with asanas, such as viparita karani, sirshasana, matshya-sana, salamba sarvangasana, supta virasana, halasana, baddha konasana, shavasana. During yoga, a person makes gravity work for himself. In other words, when performing special exercises, excess blood leaves the legs, and a full, calm breath creates negative pressure in the chest. This pressure draws air into the chest cavity, as well as blood from the entire body, including blood-filled legs. It is advisable for everyone who is at risk (i.e., has a congenital predisposition to varicose veins or works with an orthostatic load for a long time) to practice yoga and for prevention purposes.

Of particular importance in the treatment of this disease is proper nutrition. In the diet of such patients should be vegetables, fruits, legumes, there may be fish or liver, herbs, honey, nuts or seeds. For lunch, in addition to vegetables and legumes, soup is preferable, but not on meat broth. For dinner, it is advisable to eat fresh fruits, honey. Dinner should be light and no later than 2 hours before bedtime.

It is useful to include cereals (oatmeal, buckwheat, etc.) in the diet, but they should be consumed separately from other foods. Bananas and sour milk are not recommended in the diet. The amount of fluid you drink, if there are no other contraindications, you can not limit.

In the treatment of arthritis, in addition to the basic yoga complex, the following exercises are used: cow pose, grasshopper pose, dog pose, bow pose, child pose, greeting earth pose.

Arthritis of the shoulder joint is well cured with virobadrasana, shalabahasana, shvasana, halasana, ardha candrasana, supta virasana, janurasana, uttihita and parivrita trikonasana.

With deformation of the lower extremities, all vertical poses help: pashimottanasana, zalasana, adho mukha shva-nasana, shalabhasana. When treating arthritis, it is very important to do all these exercises, even if you do not like them or they are difficult to perform due to pain and poor joint mobility. But it is equally important to give your joints enough rest. It is necessary to maintain a reasonable balance of work and rest.

Exercises to help with drug addiction

If you feel an urgent need to smoke, drink, or take any intoxicating substance, try the following exercises, which will distract you, relax, calm you down, and allow you to experience pleasant sensations:

1) drink some hot decaffeinated drink;

5) Relax completely lying or sitting. No thoughts should disturb you, only the perception of how relaxed each of your muscles is;

6) do the "I love you" meditation.

Over time, by practicing yoga daily, you will develop enough willpower in yourself not to indulge your weaknesses that destroy your body, but to make a choice in favor of a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle with pleasure.

Infertility

Fertility treatment is an endless stress, constantly waiting for the results of new studies, applying new treatments and experiencing failure.

You can return the lost energy after everything you have experienced with the help of a daily basic complex, consisting of breathing, physical exercises and meditation. For infertility, the best yoga exercises are: sirshasana, salamba sarvangasana, pasha mottanasana, baddha konasana, ujjayi. Postures that involve contraction are especially useful, as they stimulate the gonads and normalize metabolism.

Relaxation and meditation is a great way to overcome stress and give rest to the whole body.

Yoga and pregnancy

Many of the women have never thought about the fact that it is possible and necessary to specially prepare for childbirth in order to facilitate this process for themselves. Toxicosis, swelling, heartburn, constipation, headache, increased uterine tone - all this can significantly spoil the joy of pregnancy. But even if this is not the case, it is not known how the unprepared body will behave during childbirth.

There is a great way to properly prepare for childbirth, to survive the period of pregnancy calmly, with a good mood and a pleasant expectation of the birth of a baby. There is a specially designed yoga course for pregnant women.

Regular yoga practice reduces the risk of stretch marks. Postures (asanas) strengthen the uterus so that it works most efficiently during childbirth. There are no sudden movements in yoga exercises. They increase blood flow in the pelvic area, strengthen the pelvic muscles, train the spine; expanding the internal volume of the uterus, provide proper blood circulation, thereby creating the necessary space for the movement of the fetus. With the help of some asanas, you can get rid of various types of pain associated with both pregnancy and childbirth. After practicing yoga, you can always feel refreshed both physically and mentally. Special communication meditations with the baby will help to establish contact with him.

And the breathing technique will help to find a new feeling of clean and easy breathing. With the help of yoga, you can also cure diseases that bother you, since any disease is associated primarily with abnormal circulation of energy or its stagnation.

During the birth itself, you can use a variety of postures and breathing techniques that are designed to ease contractions. Yoga for pregnant women is the best way to harmonize the physical and mental state during childbearing and guarantee a natural and safe birth. With the help of yoga, you can: establish hormonal balance, alleviate or completely eliminate toxicosis, improve bowel function, avoid rapid weight gain, prevent swelling and expansion of veins in the legs, remove heaviness in the lower back, cleanse, restore breathing, return the child to the correct position (head down), increase muscle elasticity and strengthen the uterus.

Diseases of the cardiovascular system

In the body, the cardiovascular system has an important task: to deliver oxygen and nutrients to all organs and remove toxic substances from cells. The main causes of heart disease are sedentary lifestyle, smoking, drinking alcohol, fatty foods containing cholesterol. One of the reasons for the development of pathology in the cardiovascular system is the inability to cope with stress. Men usually suffer more from heart disease, but women are also susceptible to this pathology in the menopause.

With the help of yoga, atherosclerosis, coronary thrombosis, degenerative changes in the myocardium, and hypertension are treated.

However, before starting a yoga health complex, you should consult with your doctor. If you are advised to proceed with caution in yoga, then do the exercises while sitting on a chair. In any stressful situation, immediately resort to the method of full yogic breathing to quickly relieve tension. When sitting, it is good to take breaks and do some stretching exercises, you can sit on a chair. Practice meditation to calm your mind and body.

In addition to the gradual use of asanas, meditation, adherence to the daily regimen, for the treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system, it is important to follow proper nutrition. First of all, such patients should be excluded from the diet of coffee, tea, alcoholic and tonic drinks, hot spices and seasonings, vinegar, pepper, and reduce salt intake. You should eat only 85% of the food you want.

The daily diet should include fresh fruits, vegetables, salads with vegetable oil, milk and dairy products, sprouted cereals, nuts or seeds, legumes, greens, a small amount of fish or liver is allowed, which are consumed every other day. In diseases of the cardiovascular system, it is impossible to overeat, so that there is no increased load on the work of the heart. It is necessary to eat the desired amount of food not at one time, but for 3-4 times.

Digestive Diseases and Yoga

Digestive disorders are quite common. Most often, functional digestive disorders occur, such as dyspepsia, heartburn, diarrhea, vomiting, acidity changes, etc. Functional digestive disorders occur, as a rule, with violations of the diet, work and rest, and frequent stressful situations. They can be easily eliminated with exercise and a balanced diet.

In nutrition, it is necessary to increase the intake of a large amount of raw and cooked vegetables and fruits with each meal, and in case of prolonged constipation, a liquid diet should be followed until improvement occurs. It is recommended to take long walks in the fresh air once a day, to carry out cleansing manipulations as necessary.

With excessive gas formation (flatulence), it is necessary: to perform a complex of health yoga daily; follow the diet; take long walks in the fresh air at least once a day.

It has been noticed that even with slight displacements of the umbilical ring in the body, the usual neuro-reflex relationships between them are disturbed. Therefore, there are a variety of pathological conditions: acidity, dyspepsia, lethargy, constipation or diarrhea, pain in the intestines. Sometimes only these disorders can cause pain in the abdomen and the development of chronic diseases of the digestive system. Displacement of the umbilical ring can occur due to lifting heavy weights, falling from a height, constant sharp movements of the body, constant shaking of the body, etc. Performing a system of yoga exercises allows you to return such a displacement to the correct position. The following asanas help to cure this disease, and along with it a number of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract: uttanpadasana, chakrasana, ardha-chakrasana, viparita-karani, sarvangasana, etc. Some of them are included in the main complex, while others should be introduced additionally.

Allergy and yoga

The cause of allergies can be diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, metabolic disorders, reduced immunity, diseases of the pancreas, and many others. People with allergies may also experience impaired respiratory function. From the point of view of yoga, the causes of allergic diseases are pollution of the Nadi channels, as well as breathing through the mouth and not through the nose. The mucous membrane of the nose warms the air, cleans it of impurities, and destroys microbes. Yoga exercises can eliminate these disorders, reduce nasal discharge, and reduce the amount of medication taken. For allergic diseases, yoga exercises should be performed: sirshasana, salamba sarvangasana, vakrasana, uddiyana bandha, maha mudra, shirshisana, pashimottanasana, padmasana.

Diseases of the spine and posture

There are many diseases of the spine. The most common cause of back problems is poor posture. It can lead to curvature of the spine. In diseases of the spine, pain develops due to local muscle strain, compression of the nerve roots, and local inflammation. Significant chest deformities due to scoliosis and increased thoracic kyphosis can also impair heart and lung function.

One of the most common diseases of the spine today is osteochondrosis. It is characterized by damage to the intervertebral discs, most often in the cervical and lumbar regions. People with this disease experience stiffness, limited mobility, and dull or sharp pain. If osteochondrosis has affected the cervical region, then cerebrovascular accidents are also possible.

Often there is a herniated disc. In the treatment of osteochondrosis, drugs, massage and manual therapy methods, and yoga therapy are used. Yoga exercises are a good tool not only for the prevention of osteochondrosis, but also for the treatment of pain in the spine. Yoga therapy for osteochondrosis begins immediately after the removal of acute phenomena. In the treatment of osteochondrosis, bowel cleansing procedures and a vegetarian diet should be used. Then pranayama (breathing exercises) and a special warm-up are carried out. The following asanas and mudras are recommended: agnisara dhauti, uttanasana, trikonasana, ardho mu-kasana, virasana, vajrasana, cat pose, bhujangasana, ard-hasalabhasana, makarasana, half camel pose, dog pose, cleansing breath, roller, matsyendrasana, ardha-chaprasana , viparita korani, halasana, dhanurasana, sarvanga-sana, shavasana, crow pose. Modified yoga exercises with a chair also work well - headstand and half-bridge, which do not put a lot of stress on the spine and are easy to perform.

With sciatica, such asanas are shown as virabadrasana, shalabhasana, padhastasana, ardha chandrasana, padangustasana, janurasana, uttanasana, sirshasana, salamba sarvanga sana, ardha matshiendrasana, pashasana.

When the vertebrae are displaced, all are recommended vertical poses: padangustasana, pada hastasana, uttanasana, pasi-mottanasana, sha labhasana, makarasana, janurasana, bhujan-gasana, urdhva mukha svanasana, salamba sar vangasana, setu bandha sarvangasana, matshya-sana, supta virasana, ujayi.

In case of violation of posture, all vertical poses are also shown, and then one should perform dandasana, chaturanga dandasana, shalabhasana, makarasana, januru sana, padangustasana, pa-dahastasana, uttanasa, bhujangasana, urdhva mukha svanasana, adho mukha svanasana, maha mudra, jana shirshisana , ardha matshyendrasana. Yoga is very effective for the prevention of subsequent recurrences of osteochondrosis. With osteochondrosis, an energy imbalance is disturbed in the system of energy centers, or chakras. Especially important in the treatment is the regulation of energy through the kundalini. Thanks to a special exercise, the kundalini energy rises up the spine to the last, seventh center, which corresponds to the brain. In diseases of the spine, the kundalini energy is disturbed, thanks to yoga exercises, this energy, as well as prana, is restored. When practicing yoga, you can achieve an increase in the elasticity of joints, ligaments, relaxation of spasmodic muscles, and the elimination of small blocks in the spine. Sometimes yoga practice can replace manual therapy.

Breathing exercises and meditation help to quickly get out of stressful situations that can cause muscle tension. A balanced diet also helps to strengthen muscles, store enough energy to avoid overloading the back.

Fibroma or uterine cyst

In the treatment of fibroids or uterine cysts, all exercises that require tension should be avoided: standing postures, jumping, balancing on the hands. Preference should be given to inverted postures, forward bends, back bends (with support), twists, i.e. exercises that increase blood circulation in the affected organ in order to cleanse this organ or system. Now it is becoming popular to practice yoga, due to the increase in the trends of oriental cultures. Many who have been practicing yoga for a long time claim that they have stopped, they turn to doctors because they rarely get sick. From their words, it turns out that yoga, as a panacea for all diseases, heals no worse than doctors.

We are interested in the answer to the question - is it really possible to cure diseases with the help of yoga? Or does it help at least to avoid them? Yoga itself helps a person not only in the prevention of physical health, but also reduces psychosomatic disorders. And although it has long been confirmed that the treatment of already acquired diseases is not at all the most powerful side of yoga, but when interacting with other means of treatment, it is very useful for any person. Perhaps what do you know about the research that took place in 1954-1955? Do you remember the percentage of people who recovered with the help of yoga? The figure is strong - 80-86 percent! And, what is most interesting, all the diseases there were of a psychosomatic nature, which means that the main role was played not by the well-being of the body, but by the state of the mind. For example, people had such diseases as severe obesity, neurasthenia, bronchial asthma.

Did you know that there are many laughter yoga followers in the city of Hanoi? For many years now, these people from Vietnam have been gathering in the main park to prove to everyone that laughter is the best cure for absolutely all mental illnesses. They happily clap their hands, make funny faces at each other, and just make each other laugh.

Set your pills aside. Simple yoga poses will help a lot to get rid of your headache, internal digestive disorders, PMS nervousness and other problems of yours.

Many years ago, Jason Krandel, a warehouse worker, picked up and lifted a very heavy load, and spent the next three weeks dejectedly in bed with severe back pain. The back problem, after this incident, reminded of itself for two years, and Jason eventually came to yoga to make his torso flexible and strong. Now Krandel is the director of a major yoga club in France. He says that thanks to yoga, he does not have constant bouts of severe back pain, because yoga, as a panacea for all diseases, helps him better than expensive doctors.

According to him, if he feels signs of tension in his body, then he does a certain set of yoga exercises that significantly relieve spasms and maintain flexibility. Krandel is confident that yoga gives people much more than just flexibility, he believes that exercise can greatly alleviate many human ailments. But most people immediately run to the doctor if they have problems. “So many yoga exercises, such as postures, meditations and breathing, bring great benefits to your health,” says Taylor Maythew. who is a PhD and physiotherapist in Arizona.

The positive effect appears not only due to the impact of yoga on the nerves and the immune system, because yoga, as a panacea for all diseases, also allows you to influence the psyche of people. Taylor explains to us: “Yoga helps you change your state of mind in order to change your body, for example, or vice versa.” That's why, if you need to get rid of a headache or soothe a sick stomach, turn to yoga.

Rather, yoga can become a faithful assistant in healing.

More and more people want to find the absolute source of health in yoga. Demand creates supply. Thanks to medicine, the arguments in favor of yoga are becoming more powerful. For example, you can often hear that backbends relieve depression by stimulating the adrenal glands. All I can say to that is, "Maybe." In my opinion, we need to be more careful and not strive to turn yoga - even in words - into a healing practice.

My experience as a doctor and yoga teacher at the same time says that backbends are energizing, so they can certainly help those who suffer from depression, the symptoms of which include weakness and apathy. At the same time, the same exercises are likely to be contraindicated for people prone to aggression.

When you come out of Urdhva Dhanurasana (Upward Bow Pose), your heart rate increases, so it feels like you just had a cup of double espresso. A complete feeling of a serious release of adrenaline (the adrenal glands just produce this hormone). However, as far as I know, no one has ever measured the level of adrenaline in the blood before and after backbends. But even if such measurements were taken and they would confirm the release of adrenaline as a result of backbends, this does not mean that the pose really relieves symptoms of depression.

This is where yoga can help. Some exercises stimulate the nervous system, while others relax it. And it is the combination of these exercises that is useful for our body. Thanks to yoga, we are fully aware of this, we begin to understand that our body, our mind and feelings interact with each other. In this sense, yoga, however paradoxical it may sound, has gone far ahead of science - scientists are just beginning to really study this process. In such a web of relationships, it is impossible to single out the specific effect of one specific action - performing an asana, for example. In the pose of Urdhva Dhanurasana, the lungs are filled with air to the very brim (as a rule, usually only the upper part of the lungs is filled with air). This raises blood pressure, as well as pressure in the head and neck, increases the frequency of heart beats, stretches the muscles and organs of the front of the body, while in the back of the body, where the adrenal glands are located, they contract. It seems to me that only the interconnection of all these processes and only a series of asanas, when the Bow pose interacts with other elements of yoga practice, can heal. And this goes for any health issue - I mentioned depression just as an example.

No need to hide behind complex medical terms in an effort to look convincing. It is better to honestly admit that we do not know how the mechanism works, but we have already seen the result more than once. From Patanjali's point of view, true knowledge is acquired only through personal experience. Let's not pass off as scientific knowledge a practice in which there is no science nearby - then people will begin to trust us more and, perhaps, will find in yoga an assistant and friend that promotes healing.

Each person, regardless of his religion, can benefit greatly from one or all aspects of yoga, which is an integral system of harmonious development of a person, giving people joy, health, vigor and peace of mind.

Yoga is a special way of life, a set of hygienic, moral and ethical rules and philosophical ideas, the origins of which go back to ancient times. Yoga stimulates, awakens the tremendous inner strength of the body, thanks to which the body begins to function more energetically, harmoniously.

In this ancient system, physical exercises and intelligence training, character education and rejuvenation, beauty and grace are successfully combined. The specificity of the physical exercises of yogis allows us to recommend them to people of almost any age, starting from childhood.

From the point of view of yoga, life and all living things are supported by a force called prana. This word can be translated from Sanskrit using the term "life force". One of the most important methods of yoga is to direct the prana. All living beings must constantly receive life force in order to sustain themselves. This applies to man, and to the animal, and to the plant world. The more vitality is contained in the body, the higher the quality of life. When there is a lack or imbalance of prana, the quality of life is low, physical, mental and emotional disturbances occur.

Yogis believe that many diseases and disorders come precisely from a lack of vitality. When its amount begins to fall below the required level, the body tries to compensate for the deficiency and regain the required balance. The body makes us sleep or rest, it requires more or less food (according to what it is trying to achieve), it will make us drink more or less liquid, make us feel thirsty, cold, etc. In other words, our wise body will force you to do everything possible to support the corresponding flow of vitality. Only in accordance with the needs of the body can one achieve success in yoga and develop mentally, emotionally and spiritually, as yogis say.

Through special exercises, proper nutrition and a reasonable lifestyle, diseases can be avoided and health can be maintained. With their recommendations, yogis not only support and prolong life, most importantly, they achieve a high quality of life. When a yogi chooses his food, he asks himself whether this food contains life force. The yogi eats small portions of high quality food containing life force. In general, yogis believe that the less you eat (in reasonable quantities, of course, and only high quality food), the healthier and more energetic you feel and live longer without health complications. Of course, it cannot be said that all diseases are the result of malnutrition. But, as popular experience and leading nutritionists testify, one can agree with yogis that many diseases can be prevented through proper nutrition.

Yogis do not use refined sugar and products from it, sweets, smoked meats, stimulants such as coffee. According to yoga theory, most natural products (and these are plant products and dairy products) are rich in vitality. Having chosen such products, one should prepare food from them in such a way that the vital forces in it are preserved for as long as possible.

However, in order to appreciate how great the wisdom of the people who invented this system, you need to start practicing yoga practically. Moreover, you will not need simulators and special devices, expensive gyms.

Yoga classes can be started from childhood. Children love to manipulate their bodies. Yoga classes contribute to the correct, harmonious development of children, make them strong and resilient.

Older people, but young in spirit, having started practicing yoga, very quickly acquire many of the qualities inherent in the young. This is because the life force is always with us and can be activated at any age and in almost any conditions. Thus, older people who have lost the flexibility of the spine, tense and constrained in their movements, begin to gradually relax and straighten, and as this happens, they naturally begin to feel younger. Older people are becoming more active and able to enjoy life to a greater extent than before.

It's okay if you're "inflexible" or "out of shape." It's just that the results in this case will affect a little slower than others. But every day you will notice the amazing power of the life force and how it rebuilds and re-creates your body. The yoga system also brings positive results to women who want to be slim, get rid of excess weight and sagging, gain grace, beauty and charm; and men who want to gain strength and energy, get rid of nervous tension and fatigue.

Yogis claim that one movement from this system is more useful than 10 regular exercises. The principle underlying the exercises is as follows: slow movements and frequent stops, delays in postures. It is these slow movements and postures that allow muscles, tendons and ligaments to really stretch, strengthen, and become mobile.

When learning a set of exercises certain principles must be followed. This is the principle of consistency with a gradual transition from easy to difficult exercise; systematic and regularity of classes; moderation in everything.

Another important note for those who want to do yoga. Just doing the exercises is not enough, you need to understand the purpose of each of them, taking into account your individual capabilities, your state of health. In this case, yoga classes have a powerful healing effect on the entire body.

Yogis believe that exercises are best done in the morning. If this is not possible for one reason or another, then classes can be rescheduled for another time. During the day, you can perform the exercises several times and spend from 20 to 45 minutes on it. Most often, to achieve the maximum benefit from exercise, it is enough to exercise twice a day. Yoga should not be practiced late in the evening before going to bed. This is due to the fact that exercises have, in addition to a certain specific effect inherent in each specific posture, and a general tonic effect on the body. And in any case, a set of exercises is performed on an empty stomach or not earlier than 3-4 hours after the last meal.

Exercise is best done outdoors. You can practice in a well-ventilated room, but drafts should be avoided. Before classes, you must remove everything that restricts movement, including watches, belts. Clothing should not restrict movement. It can be a light tracksuit, woolen or cotton, synthetic fabrics are not allowed. If the room is not too cool, then it is better to exercise by combining yoga with air baths.

Exercises are always performed without shoes, on a thin bedding or rug that is not used for another purpose. When exercising outdoors, exercises are performed on any smooth and hard surface.

Yoga is, first of all, a system of psychophysical training of a person. Therefore, it is completely useless to perform exercises if your thoughts are occupied with something else, the creators of the system believe. Before classes, it is useful to create an appropriate positive attitude, disconnect from everyday worries and fully concentrate on performing a set of exercises.

Before performing physical exercises, yogis usually perform water procedures - wiping, dousing, showering, bathing. Yogis are against the use of both very cold and too hot water. The water should be pleasantly cool and decrease gradually as you get used to the procedure. Do not force events, strive to lower the water temperature as quickly as possible. Yogis believe that water procedures should bring pleasure, without becoming a daily test of character. After water procedures, you should begin to perform physical exercises. Traditionally, before starting yoga classes, they turn to the sun and perform a small set of several exercises, which does not take much time, but warms up the muscles of the whole body quite well. These can be exercises for stretching the muscles of the chest, stretching the muscles of the arms and legs, tilting the torso to the sides, circular movements of the torso, turning the torso, etc. Yogis believe that such exercises have a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal tract, heart, lungs and nervous system. system.

The systematic implementation of such exercises strengthens the body and develops the flexibility of the spine. Namely, the flexibility of the spine, according to yogis, determines the age of a person. Therefore, as long as the spine is flexible, the person is young, yogis say, but as soon as the flexibility of the spine disappears, the person becomes old. You are not in danger of old age as long as (according to yogis) you are engaged in appropriate exercises, developing the flexibility of the spine. At first, it may be difficult to synchronize breathing with movements, which should not confuse you, soon the correct rhythm will be found. Breathe normally during all movements. Attention should be directed to the exercising parts of the body.
