Favorable days for fishing

Pike perch is a popular predator and its fishing attracts a large number of anglers. This is an all-season fish, the catch of which can be counted on in any weather throughout the year. To successfully hunt fanged, you need to study well its habits, habitats and the most effective ways of fishing.

Hunting for this predator can be carried out from early spring. Then spawning begins in the fish, and after that it switches to the usual diet and concentrates in typical places. A full-fledged zander fishing in June in open water begins when the spawning ban ends and everyone rushes to the reservoirs.

The best period for the "river tiger" is considered to be autumn. Fishing for zander in the summer is not so stable. In winter, only a few fish with a constant positive result. Spring is too specific a time to talk about good catches for all spinners.

General description of the habits of zander

Pike perch is a benthic flocking predator that loves clean running water and a hard bottom. As shelters, he chooses various snags, dumps and edges, uneven structures at the bottom. Mostly fanged inhabits large and medium rivers, as well as reservoirs. He lives in large lakes and deep quarries. But in various swamps, ponds and other bodies of water without a current, it cannot be found.

During the day, the fanged one feeds mainly during short-term exits, which depend on the season, weather conditions and a specific reservoir. Seasoned gossips always know when this fish has bursts of appetite in their favorite places, so they almost always return home with a catch.

The fanged one feeds mainly on small fish. Almost all methods of catching zander are based on this. It is hunted with spinning baits or live bait. It is extremely rare to use large bait animals - worms and leeches.

The question of where to catch zander is quite simple. This predator is a sedentary fish, therefore it always lives in the same places, with the exception of the spawning period:

  • deep channel pits or grooves with a hard bottom;
  • barbed areas;
  • near hydraulic structures;
  • steep banks at river bends;
  • channel dumps and deep rifts;
  • edges, ledges and other shelters.

In summer, the fanged one behaves a little differently, going out to the nearest shallow water at night. Therefore, night fishing for zander during this period was widespread in many regions.

Fishing in the spring

The spring hunt for fanged is perhaps the most difficult. The predator must be looked for in atypical places where it is located in front of the spawner. In addition, for a long period in most promising areas there is a ban on catching zander associated with spawning.

The best way to catch fanged in the spring is a jig. Lures of bright colors are used, which are clearly visible in muddy waters. Pike perch at this time is unstable and good results can be achieved just before sunset.

Other methods of hunting for zander in the spring do not bring the desired result. Only occasionally does the fanged one come across to bottomers who catch bream, silver bream or roach on a worm. But such captures are purely random.

Summer fishing

In June, rivers usually return to their banks, the water becomes clear and warms up enough, so pike perch, like other underwater inhabitants, begins to become active, eating small fish.

Behavioral Features

In summer, with an increase in air temperature, the biting of pike perch gradually begins to shift to the morning and evening hours. Now the "river tiger" goes hunting before sunrise or at dusk. Closer to July, when the atmosphere during the day heats up over 30 degrees, the fanged one almost completely switches to night feeding. Only on cloudy days can he be active during the day.

The predator spends daytime hours at a depth where it is inactive and does not show much interest in baits. At dusk, he goes to the nearest shallow spits and rifts. Here the fanged one feeds on small bleak or roach, which is massively concentrated in such places. It is not for nothing that fishing for zander at night is so popular among anglers. It is exciting, dynamic and allows you to consistently bring good catches from the reservoir.

How to catch

Unlike spring, zander fishing in summer is much more diverse.

Fanged in this period can be caught not only with a jig. The main ways are:

  • night fishing for zander on a wobbler;
  • bottom gear;
  • mugs.

All of these areas are effective in hunting for zander and have their adherents.

Spinning

Fishing for zander at night on spinning is carried out in many regions on large rivers, which are abundant in shallow sand or gravel spits. This is where the fanged comes out to eat at night. This period lasts from the end of June to the beginning of August.

These baits imitate bleak and small roach as much as possible, so the fanged one attacks them greedily. In some regions, spinningists use silicone twisters and vibrotails equipped with light jig heads.

The peak periods of activity of walleye at night are the period after sunset until midnight and the last hour before flowering. It is at this time that anglers achieve maximum results.

Mugs

Catching our hero in the summer for mugs is carried out mainly on vast reservoirs and large lakes. There is a weak current here or it is completely absent, so the use of this gear is justified.

The design of pike perch circles is no different from pike or some other ones. Live bait is used differently, depending on the place of fishing and the food base on a particular reservoir. Most often it is a goby, perch, crucian carp, roach, gudgeon or small bream.

Donka

Fanged fish are caught on bottom gear throughout the summer. They are usually placed in deep places near snags or other shelters where a predator may be. Live bait, a large worm or a leech are used as baits.

Donks can be hunted for zander around the clock, but night fishing gives the best results. It happens in parallel when catching a fanged catfish, so the tackle must be strong with strong hooks.

Catching in autumn

With the onset of the first days of September, a new stage begins - catching pike perch in the fall. This time is the most favorable for mastering the spinning direction of the fanged predator, which, with the cold weather, responds better to the offered baits.

Catching pike perch in the fall is, first of all, a jig in all its manifestations, from classic to spaced rigs. Other methods do not bring such impressive results, so they are not usually practiced by anglers.

A couple of weeks before freezing, the activity of the fanged one can drop, sometimes it closes its mouth completely and ignores the bait.

In the middle of autumn, a spinner cannot lose a day. Fishing for zander in October brings a lot of bites. There are also three-hundred-gram "caps" and weighty "agapes". It is not uncommon to catch a trophy predator weighing over five to six kilograms.

Fishing for zander in November is not as prolific as it was a month earlier. Now the fish often shows apathy, can sluggishly take baits, or even completely ignore them. Sometimes you have to try various wires in order to tempt the fanged one to attack.

Pike perch in November does not always take with a characteristic “poke” on the fall. Often the angler feels a bench press or just a hanging weight on the next toss of the bait. This must be taken into account and try to make wiring with small steps. Dragging along the bottom often works.

So that fishing for pike perch in November does not become fruitless, you need to have a decent supply of passive lures:

  • silicone worms;
  • slugs and creatures;
  • foam fish;
  • mandula.

Active twisters and rippers at the end of autumn bring much less bites.

Spinning for catching zander should have good sensitivity, rigidity and safety margin. You will need to fish with heavy lures, so the test should be appropriate. When fishing from the shore, it is better to take a rod of at least 2.70 meters, from a boat, on the contrary, it is shorter.

Winter fishing

With the onset of cold weather and the establishment of a stable ice cover, the period of catching pike perch in winter begins. At this time, the fanged one is hunted with sheer lures and baubles. Both tackles are effective, but differ in their essence and the baits used.

Sheer lure is an active fishing with a constant search for pike perch, drilling holes, changing baits and selecting their postings. In winter, fangs are used:

  • vertical spinners;
  • balancers;
  • pilkers;
  • helicopters;
  • corkscrews;
  • amphipods;
  • jig lures.

It is not so interesting to catch with zherlits, but no less effective. They can be used not only during the day, but also left overnight. On some reservoirs, in the form of a “bonus”, a burbot can sit on a hook, in which zhor is observed in winter.

Among anglers, pike is perhaps the most attractive prey. And the point is not only that it grows to a very decent size, and its weight can exceed 5 kilograms. It is equally important that it is a cunning, strong and aggressive predator, which is not easy to catch and overcome.

The intensity of pike biting, however, like any other fish, is greatly influenced by the weather, in particular, atmospheric pressure.

Among experienced anglers, there are two points of view on how pressure affects pike activity:

  1. At low atmospheric pressure, the chance to catch a large pike is much higher than at high one. Moreover, this should be a stable pressure that remains unchanged for several days.
  2. The level of pressure does not matter, only its stability is important. There is an opportunity to catch a large copy of this predator both at high and low pressure, the main thing is that there are no jumps.

To determine the truth, you need to understand how and why pressure affects the success of catching pike.

How to determine atmospheric pressure while fishing?

Sharp jumps in atmospheric pressure can be the cause of unsuccessful fishing. But the weather is insidious, and it is often impossible to predict its changes, and no forecasts will help here, and it is rarely possible to use these forecasts on a river or lake.

A sharp change in pressure and its signs:

  • The main element of the fisherman is water. If you carefully observe it, then it will tell you about changes in pressure. So, when the pressure drops, the water becomes “heavy”, it seems oily and hardly sways under the influence of the breeze.
  • With a decrease in pressure, the smoke of a fire spreads along the ground, and with an increased pressure, on the contrary, it goes up in a column.
  • Morning fog, creeping along the ground for a long time, is also an indicator of a decrease in pressure.
  • Clouds gathering on the horizon not only portend rain, thunderstorms, but also a sharp drop in pressure.
  • The pressure can drop even when it rains. This is noticeable in the foam of small air bubbles, which the waves nail to the shore.
  • The easiest way to accurately determine barometric pressure while fishing is to purchase a watch with a barometer.

As a rule, pike wait for more favorable weather for hunting. Pressure surges even affect the behavior of people, not just fish. And this is expressed in the appearance of lethargy, drowsiness, headache, etc.

Pike biting during low atmospheric pressure

Most experienced anglers agree that the most favorable for catching toothy predator is a steady low pressure. Although the effect of pressure on the behavior of fish has not yet been fully studied, there are still several objective reasons for this behavior of the pike:

How to catch more fish?

I have been active fishing for quite some time and have found many ways to improve the bite. And here are the most effective ones:

  1. Cool activator. Attracts fish in cold and warm water with the help of pheromones included in the composition and stimulates their appetite. It is a pity that Rosprirodnadzor wants to ban its sale.
  2. More sensitive gear. Reviews and instructions for other types of gear you can find on the pages of my site.
  3. Lures using pheromones.

You can get the rest of the secrets of successful fishing for free by reading our other articles on the site.

  1. Pike do not like heat, and low pressure, especially stable, is usually accompanied by rainy, that is, more favorable weather for pike.
  2. Low atmospheric pressure is associated with an increase in the density of water, so small fish go to depth and find themselves in close proximity to pike ambush.
  3. An increase in the number of potential victims activates the pike, and it rushes to the bait offered to it.
  4. The pike sees perfectly, and in cloudy weather and with increased water density, the difference between spinner and small fish is not so noticeable.

Catching pike at low pressure

Low pressure, of course, is a positive factor, but not at all a guarantee of successful fishing, since pike biting also depends on other factors.

Where to catch pike at low pressure?

Pike should be caught where its prey is located at this time, that is, at a depth. But the pike does not chase the fish all over the pond, it is waiting for it in ambush. Therefore, the best places to catch it will be the following:

  • deep holes;
  • dense thickets of aquatic vegetation, but not in shallow water;
  • deep-sea blockages and snags;
  • beaver piles.

How to catch pike at low atmospheric pressure?

If we are talking about spinning, then it is clear that a variety of spinners, wobblers and vibrotails are used as baits. At low pressure, the pike hunts for more impressive prey, so the bait should be large. In addition, the color of the spinners should correspond to the type of potential pike victims. And on a cloudy day, darker and matte baits should be selected.

Effect of high atmospheric pressure on pike biting

During an intensive increase in pressure, there is a relatively short period of time - the very moment when the pressure begins to go up. This time, according to the observations of anglers, is characterized by increased activity of pike. But the zhor is short-lived, and with a further increase in pressure, the bite becomes very sluggish or disappears. But if the high pressure remains the same for several days, then the fish will adapt and the bite will resume.

Features of pike biting at high atmospheric pressure

  1. Fish, and hence the pike hunting for it, prefer to stay in the upper layers of the water.
  2. However, if this is a hot summer period, then the pike, even with increased pressure, goes to a depth where it is cooler.
  3. In winter, on the contrary, on sunny days, pike biting intensifies, and any warming increases its activity.
  4. In windy weather, even with increased pressure, pike are more active.

How to catch pike at high atmospheric pressure?

Despite the fact that high atmospheric pressure is not a very favorable factor for successful fishing, pike lovers do not come home without prey even with this factor. To catch a spotted predator at high pressure, you need to choose the right time to catch, place and bait.

  • Best time. High atmospheric pressure is usually accompanied by clear sunny weather, which pike do not like, so the best time to bite is early morning and late evening. In the morning, when there is still no heat, but the water is already starting to warm up, pike biting can be as intense as its activity even at low pressure.
  • The best weather. If it’s so “unlucky” and the sun is shining brightly outside, the wind can be a positive factor. But it should not be strong, but sufficient so that there are large ripples on the water, during which the boat sways slightly.
  • The best place. Since pike often stay close to the surface at high pressure, but do not give up their habit of sitting in ambush, floating islands, thickets of water lilies and lilies will be the best place to catch them. In summer, pike can be caught at the mouth of small rivers when they flow into a large one (if the river is deep enough).
  • The best lure. During periods of high pressure, pike prefers smaller prey, so you need to choose not too large spinners and wobblers for bait. In addition to them, a vibrotail can also be a good nozzle. But, from the point of view of experienced anglers, in good weather at high pressure, the most catchy are small shiny baubles that look like small fish in the water.

Ideal atmospheric pressure for pike fishing

If we are talking about ideal pressure, then this is a stable low pressure that lasts for several days. But such pressure is typical for autumn, but in summer it is rare. Having gone fishing at low pressure, the angler is not immune from his jump during fishing.

Therefore, they often talk about the optimal pressure, and the norm is 760 mm Hg. Although the norm may be different for different regions, for example, in Siberia, the normal atmospheric pressure is lower.

  • The behavior of pikes in different water bodies varies and depends on local conditions. This also applies to the intensity of the bite. Therefore, for successful fishing, it is worth studying the features of the reservoir.
  • Any fish, including pike, adapts to the level of pressure, therefore, when high pressure lasts for several days, the pike goes back to normal behavior and diet. And, therefore, you can count on an active bite.
  • Under reduced pressure, small fish (potential pike prey) are somewhat sluggish, so when fishing on spinning, the wiring should be slow, otherwise you can frighten off the predator.

It should be remembered that pressure is far from the only factor influencing the success of pike fishing. But if you take into account all the nuances of the difficult catching of a cunning predator, then under any pressure, you can come home with prey.

Now only I bite!

I caught this pike with a bite activator. No more fishing without a catch and looking for excuses for your bad luck! It's time to change everything!

Fishing in August

The summer heat gradually subsides and the day shortens almost imperceptibly. It rains more and more often, and the coolness more insistently replaces the warm fine days. But so far, hot and clear August is the most desirable and catchy time.

If at noon there is still a strong heat, then the morning dawn is opposite the coolest time of the day. Although invigorating fresh happens throughout the night. In the floodplains and lowlands, a light fog spreads like a veil in the evening, making the outlines of bushes and trees unclear. And in the morning, abundant dew keeps for a long time on juicy mature greenery. Despite the coolness of the night, the days are warm and clear. But summer is coming to an end.

In August, the catching of predators improves, both on lakes and on large rivers. All the bowl you can see the bold bites of perch. It is caught both traditionally on fry and on an ordinary worm. Pike, pike perch go for baubles and silicone baits. The method of fishing with spinning “on the track” has proven itself especially well. Roach and bream don't mind tasting animal bait. It is best to catch them on feeder and bottom tackle. Ide and chub prefer to be caught in rivers for frogs, however, pike can also be caught with such bait, which gradually begins to fatten up fat and prepare for winter. At the end of the month, this species will begin a true zhor. This is the time for intensive catching of a toothy predator, which in the last decade of the month will already begin to aggressively grab any spinners and wobblers offered by the spinner.

Carp take well on the lakes. After the July heat subsides, and the nights become noticeably cooler, the water cools down. Vegetation falls off and the water clears up again. Especially noticeable is the increase in the intensity of biting in the second half of the month. Although it is almost impossible to catch tench during this period.

In the first half of August, there is such an interesting phenomenon as the mass departure of mayflies. And although it lasts only a few days in calm, fine weather, the biting at this time stops completely. But especially experienced and dexterous anglers even at this time make fishing very effective, for this it is enough to put a few mayflies on a small hook, but this is not so easy to do because of the delicate body of the insect.

Fishing in Astrakhan in August

Astrakhan attracts experienced and novice fishermen with the beauty of nature and the diversity of its rivers. Two large full-flowing rivers flow on the territory of the region: Akhtuba and Volga, which have many tributaries and oxbow lakes. But the most interesting and exciting fishing in Kharabali in August. Today, this provincial, small, calm town attracts thousands of amateur anglers from all over the country. Fishing in Kharabali is considered to be almost the best and most trophy in the entire territory of the lower Volga. This place is located on the territory of the famous Volga-Akhtuba floodplain. The city itself is located on the Ashuluk River, which is one of the branches of the Akhtuba River. Akhtuba, in turn, is a large left arm of the Volga. Due to such a successful and promising location and accessibility, many fishing bases have opened and operate around the city, both elite ones with a cost of living from 5 thousand rubles per day, and economy class with a price of 750 to 2000 rubles per day.

In August, in Astrakhan, in all reservoirs, including the Volga and Akhtuba with all their tributaries, there is a significant decrease in water temperature. It cools down a few degrees. This makes the water much more comfortable for almost all types of river and lake, peaceful and predatory fish. They begin active fattening for the upcoming cold season. So by mid-August, an active bite of such test, trophy fish as large bream and, of course, carp begins. With a thoughtful careful approach, the selection of tackle, bait, lure and the right place to fish, active recreation and fun fishing in these parts is guaranteed. Another caught specimen is simply obscenely large.

Carp are active on the lakes. But their nearest neighbors stop pecking at all, and to catch them at this time is the work of a true professional or a rare success. But especially during the whole of August it is a pleasure to catch pike with spinning rods. Since this toothy predator has certain difficulties with hunting young animals that have grown up and strengthened over the previous summer months, she willingly goes for any bait and spinners, including small silicone vibrotails.

Night fishing for zander is deteriorating. A bad bite lasts until about mid-September, and is activated again when the turn of burbots comes. This is due, of course, to a strong drop in temperature at night. The fish becomes lethargic and practically does not hunt. But you can try your luck catching zander in a deep hole, where the water is warmer. The bait of predators 2-3 days before fishing will increase at times the chances of luck.

It should be noted that fishing in Astrakhan in August is characterized by increased activity of such a desirable predator as catfish. Catching these giants on the riffles is easy. But only despite the fact that there is no hunting for outstanding trophies. But giants in August are much more difficult to get, large catfish refuse to peck even with the most fragrant and attractive bait.

Well, what is important is that fishing is so attractive in the month of August due to the absence of annoying midges, mosquitoes and other midges, as well as the suffocating heat, especially in the second half of the month.

Fishing on Akhtuba in August

Fishing on Akhtuba in August is the most favorable time for successful fishing and outdoor activities. During this period, such types of fish as pike perch, catfish, perch, asp, carp, and sabrefish are most often caught on the hook. So, in order not to be left without a catch and not to leave with an empty cage, you need to know exactly where to catch and who to catch? If the purpose of fishing is predatory zander, perch and medium-sized catfish, then you need to look for them on the riffles. In the same places, sabrefish bite well. When the water subsides, especially in the second half of August, there is a noticeable activation of pike perch, this species begins to eat.

During the recession of water, you can also catch asp on the rifts. Castmasters weighing up to fifty-five grams are most often used as bait for this type of fish. Spinners equipped with flies are also suitable. In snags and pits carp pecks merrily. He prefers to feed at this time of the year on the muddy bottom, going to deeper places. As a rule, it is from 2 to 8 meters. They catch carp on a feeder or carp gear, feed them with porridge, corn, and boilies. It is best to use microboilers as bait, pancakes, star pasta and makushatnik have proven themselves well.

Night fishing in August on Akhtuba is less active than in July, but pike perch is good on sandy spits. It is worth mentioning the asp, which at such a late and dark time loses its vigilance and swallows the bait.

From the beginning of the velvet season, crucian carp and pike are perfectly caught on oxbow lakes and in floodplain lakes. But you must be prepared for the fact that due to aquatic vegetation, the water will be opaque. It is better to catch a pike on mugs - postavushki. Spinning fishing is effective only with the use of unhooked spinners. In general, we can say with confidence that fishing in August on the Akhtuba River is an occupation that brings a lot of pleasure. There are many tourist complexes and fishing bases here, equipped for maximum comfort for vacationers and fishermen.

Fishing on the Volga in August

In early August, there are no significant changes in the behavior of fish on the Volga River. But in the second half of the month, as the water cools, the bite is activated. The fish seem to throw off their stupor and rush to feed with zeal. It's spinning time. In their favorite places they catch small and large perches and pikes with great success. Not bad takes pike perch, asp, ide and chub.

Fans of fishing on mugs - postavushki catch weighty trophies of pike on lakes and oxbow lakes. Do not stay away and floaters. During this period, roach, ide, bream, dace, silver bream on a worm, maggot, bread crumb intensively peck on the Volga. You can also fly-fish in shallow water, for flies go chub, roach and dace.

On fine August days, bottom fishing rods are no less popular. With its help, with the right equipment, perch are caught on fry, and ide and chub are caught on frogs. Even trout is caught on the worm and fry in the tributaries of the upper Volga. By the end of August, the night bite of burbot resumes, which, having become pretty hungry for the summer, enthusiastically swallows a hook with a frog, live bait or meat fillet. Particularly active biting of burbot is observed on windy rainy nights.

Also in the second half of August, at the first drop in water, the zhor begins at the cautious asp. During this period, he willingly goes to the spinning tackle. It is best to catch it using a spoon and small poppers. Coloring of spinners is preferable to red and black. You can use different types of flies.

Gradually it gets colder and with a decrease in water temperature, the bite intensifies. Roach and bream are well caught, which go a little deeper. The feeder is considered the best tackle for catching bream in August. The main thing here is to choose the right bait. Most often, a mixture of wheat bran, ground biscuits, breadcrumbs, ground corn and roasted seeds is used. Animal bait (chopped worm, maggot) is also added there. Flavoring - vanilla, caramel or coriander, which is so loved by breams, especially in August days. As a nozzle on the hook, a bloodworm, worm, barley or dough is used.

Fishing in Karelia in August

The heat in Karelia in August is practically not observed. If there are hot days, then in the first days of the month, and only in the southern regions. In the north, the conditions for fishing during this period are the most comfortable, fishing here is very successful, especially in the White Sea.

One of the full-flowing and large rivers of Karelia is the Shuya. It flows into the famous Onega Lake. The length of the river is 194 km, the basin area is more than 10 thousand square meters. km. Shuya has many tributaries, the largest of them are Kutizhma, Syapsya, Chalna, Svyatreka, Vilga, Suojoki, Tarasjoki and Nelma. Fans of active fishing on the Shuya River will enjoy exciting fishing. The fish in this river are different. Spin fishing is especially interesting. Of the predatory species, the most popular, of course, is the pike. Some sections of this river are closed to anglers due to the fact that salmon spawning takes place on them. As a rule, bream, roach, perch and bream are most often caught on the hook. Sometimes ide is also caught. Trout and grayling can be caught on the riffles. The best method for catching these species is fly-fishing. Whitefish can also be found in the waters of Shuya.

But everyone who has ever visited the floodplain of this river will agree that the best fishing is on the lakes through which Shuya flows. There are a lot of roach, perch, and, most importantly, burbots on Vagatozero. On Lake Shotozero they hunt for pike, pike perch, and on the feeder and donka you can catch excellent specimens of bream. Fishing is very popular on Lake Onega on Kolgostrov. Lucky fishermen fish out trophy specimens of pike, perch, roach, burbot, whitefish, zander, bream, catfish, grayling, trout and salmon.

In Karelia, August is considered to be a rather warm month. But, of course, daylight hours are gradually decreasing, and the period of white nights is left behind. At night it gets colder, the water temperature drops by several degrees. For fish, such conditions are optimal for the start of feeding and fattening for the upcoming cold autumn-winter period. In general, fishing in Karelia in August is considered more active and successful than in June and July. At this time, zhor begins with bream and carp. Carp is a very picky fish. Sometimes it is very difficult to find a place to catch it, it is even more difficult to guess with tackle and bait.

In the second half of August, the intensity of the biting tench noticeably deteriorates, by the end of the month it is almost impossible to catch it. At this time, crucian carp and roach go well on the float rod. The bite of medium and large perch is improving, it is best to catch it on sandy spits. This predator goes to fry, less often a worm. It is better to catch, of course, on the bottom gear, but the float rod also shows itself well. Many anglers prefer to hunt perch on a spinning rod using the “track” method. A particular improvement in the bite is observed on the Shuya itself and its large tributaries. As for species such as char, trout and salmon, the most successful method of catching them in August is trolling, using wobblers of medium and small sizes.

Of course, one cannot fail to mention fishing in the White Sea. By the second half of August, large concentrations of grayling, pike and perch can be observed off the coast, mainly in reeds and on stone spits. In these places, pike goes well for spinning, but it is still better to catch live bait with float gear. Large perch and grayling are also more actively taken on a float.

Fishing in August in the Moscow region

Fishing in the month of August in the Moscow region attracts many lovers of active fishing on the Oka River. Since ancient times, this river was considered to be a bream, and now it is this species that predominates along its entire length. But it should be noted that all the fish characteristic of the Volga basin are found in the Oka. From the genus Abramis, eye, chintz, and silver bream are caught in the waters. Cyprinids are represented by rudd, roach, podust, asp, dace, ide, bleak, gudgeon, carp, sabrefish and chub. In the Oka, among the sturgeons, only the sterlet lives. Ruff, zander and perch are caught in abundance from perch. There are also pike in the river.

Fishing on the Oka in August will not leave indifferent either a professional or a beginner. In early August, you can go to places near the villages of Polenovo and Drakino. From the second half of the month, perch, pike and pike perch are found in abundance here. As a tackle, spinning is the most optimal, from spinners - small turntables of the Meps “long” type No. 1, “minnow” wobblers up to 5 cm perform well. and don't wait. Very often on the rifts at twilight you come across not only pike perch, but also chub with ide.

Further along the river, below Serpukhov, the riffles become much less. Clay and sandy bottom prevails. The river gets deeper. Here predators are best caught on a jig. On riffles, large pike, pike perch come across on bait and live bait, and at night in warm weather you can fish out catfish. The wobbler is used here average 7-11 cm.

Closer to Kashira, the river washes up sandy spits transverse to the current. These are excellent places for catching asp. And although this fish is extremely cautious, at the end of August it feeds in flocks near these spits. Spinning must be taken hard, as a spinner, the best option is a heavy castmaster.

On the section of the Oka River, from Ryazan to Shilov, there are a lot of deep places, especially along the right bank. And on the left bank, down from the city of Spassk-Ryazansky, there are oxbow lakes that are very interesting for spinners. After heavy rains, the water in them becomes muddy and then you can catch not only pike, but also catfish.

Fishing in Norway in August

Fishing in Norway is possible for both freshwater and marine fish species. But, of course, sea fishing is especially popular. The object of hunting for enthusiastic anglers from all over the world is 34 species of marine predators. Fierce and active resistance during fighting is exerted even by relatively small specimens of cod. And cod in these places reaches 10 kilograms or more. Even an inexperienced, novice angler can catch sea bass, saithe, haddock and mackerel without much hassle. Fishing in Norway in August provides an opportunity to pull large catfish, halibut and strong sea salmon out of the water. Due to the fact that the warm Gulf Stream flows along the entire coast of Norway, there are a lot of fish in these places. For the same reasons, fishing in Finland is catchy, active and interesting in August, when the fish show special assertiveness and boldly grab the offered bait. So sea fish weighing 4-5 kilograms is considered small by local standards.

Fishing in August video

Fishing in Karelia in August, both on the Shuya River and on numerous lakes in its floodplain, will bring real pleasure to true connoisseurs of sports fishing. The abundance of perches, pikes and other predators will not allow gear to stand idle, and anglers to relax. In addition, during this period of time, hordes of annoying and annoying midges completely disappear. Numerous fishing bases are happy to provide comfortable cabins with comfortable accommodation. Such fishing will be remembered for a long time and will leave only positive emotions.

To get a big catch, not only the place of fishing, equipment and bait matters, but also calendar days. Fish biting directly depends on the phase of the moon and weather conditions. Let's take a closer look at when and what kind of fish is best to catch.

Good days for fishing

You can spend time fishing completely in vain, or you can return with a good catch, having received great pleasure from being on the reservoir. The behavior and appetite of fish is largely dependent on the phase of the moon. Scientists have long concluded that this luminary has an impact on both humans and animals and plants. Very popular among anglers has become compiled annually

In July they catch on all amateur gear. On a spinning bait (preferably a tackle) they take

and large

(in deep holes)

- at the boundaries of aquatic vegetation,

- on small baubles (near herbs and bushes). When catching

sometimes gets

(on the rifts closer to the whirlpool).

Best caught at this time with a float fishing rod:

  • pike perch - near the whirlpools and exits from the pits (on live bait).
  • perch - in deep burrowed places, at the boundaries of aquatic vegetation (on a worm).
  • roach - near grasses, in clearings between bushes and aquatic vegetation, near bridges (on maggot, grasshopper, greens, bread crumb, peas, corn dough).
  • bream and ide - in deep places, near grasses (for peas, millet porridge, semolina dough, wheat, corn, worm, maggot, always with bait).
  • tench - in the "windows" between the grassy thickets (suitable places can be cleared of stems and algae in advance), near grasses (on a worm, bread crumb, better with bait).
  • crucian carp - near herbs, in "windows" (on a worm, bread crumb, millet porridge).
  • dace - on rifts, near steep banks (for grasshopper, maggot, worm).

What fish to catch in June

In June, they successfully catch pike perch from dusk to dawn, chub, ide, dace, roach (fly fishing and in wiring), among aquatic vegetation, any small fish takes well. With early spawning, after a short break, bream, carp, crucian carp, tench, and rudd begin to feed. The most effective fishing is on cloudy warm days with light winds, after short thunderstorms, during periods of stable atmospheric pressure.

The hottest month of the year is July. The heat reaches its peak and, of course, affects the activity of the fish - it becomes lethargic and begins to hide at the bottom, since it is coolest there.

In July, fishermen will need to either get up early in the morning when it's not too hot to catch their catch, or fish at night when the fish rise to the surface of the water to find something to eat.

The most favorable days for fishing in July 2018 are 3-9, 12-21 and 25-31. The rest of the summer is better to devote to other activities.

Fishing tackle in July

Every self-respecting angler dreams of a big and successful catch, but fishing is a very delicate matter and many nuances must be taken into account, and one of them is an auspicious day, which depends on the time of year, weather, moon phase and much more.

Of course, it is quite difficult to figure out all these subtleties on your own, so we will consider together with you when there are favorable days for fishing at different times of the year, depending on weather conditions and other equally important phenomena.

Favorable days for fishing

First of all, any fisherman is guided by weather conditions, including the direction of the wind, but not many people know that the phase of the moon and the time when it feeds most of all affect the catch of fish. The moon is able to have a strong influence on a number of several factors on which the fish itself depends.

This may include her need for food, which she hunts, and in a certain phase of the moon she does this especially actively.

Before you go for the next portion of the catch, pre-calculate the most suitable time for this (you need to do this when sunrise and sunset coincide with the full moon).

For many people

fishing in July

is a favorite pastime. Perhaps that is why today there are a great many varieties of gear that can be used for summer fishing of various types.

In the Perm Territory, crucian carp, gudgeon and, in the first half of the month, bream are successfully caught throughout the month. Biting of other fish species is deteriorating. This lasts until about August - September.

In the Leningrad region, there is a good biting of bream, asp, trout, grayling, ide, eel, catfish, roach; weakly take pike, perch, whitefish, chub, pike perch.

In the rivers of the Kola Peninsula, fishing for brown trout, trout, whitefish, and grayling is successful; in the lakes, it is good for perch, and pike for spinning and trolling.

July usually pleases the Irtysh fishermen. Usually in the first decade of the month there is a massive departure of mayflies, lasting 8-10 days with intervals of 1-2 days. They are excellent at catching various fish, including sterlet.

In southern reservoirs, carp, bream and other fish of the carp family are successfully caught on vegetable baits. In the Krasnodar Territory at night, catching catfish, carp, pike perch is effective. During the period of hot, sultry weather, the biting of any fish deteriorates sharply.

In the southern Caspian, July is the month of the highest air and water temperature. In the sea, it is advisable to fish only at night. During these hours it is also better to fish in rivers and lakes.

Fishing in July will be more successful if you give preference to combined baits, they are also great for fishing in July for dough, berries and boiled potatoes. The ideal bait for catching ide is steamed peas, and if you fly-fish, then grasshopper is better.

In July, burbot, as a rule, begins to clog into holes, so in the past it was caught by hand by the gills. It is good to catch crucian carp in July fishing, which bites on maggots, worms and bread.

And tench this month is caught for shell meat. For catching rudd on fishing in July, they usually use a float rod, and as a bait they use a cockchafer, a dragonfly, a grasshopper.

July is the summer month with the most stable and highest air and water temperatures in the middle zone of the European part of Russia. The fisherman's calendar for July notices that, as a rule, it is in July that the “blooming” of water begins, that is, the massive development of microscopic algae in rivers and lakes.

In small reservoirs, under favorable conditions, this development can proceed very intensively and last for several weeks. Then the algae die off and begin to decompose.

This causes the fish to get sick and stop biting and catching. According to the angler's calendar for July, even freezes are observed in some reservoirs.

The angler's calendar says that the most favorable for catching fish in July are morning, evening and night hours, because on hot, hot days the fish becomes lethargic and does not bite. It is great to fish in July on cloudy, warm days, with occasional short rains and light winds. In such July weather, it is caught throughout the day.

  • What to fish for in July

If you want to know what the fish are biting in July, take note of the advice from the fish biting calendar in July, which recommends using grasshoppers as bait, which appear in droves in mowed meadows.

Grasshoppers are an excellent bait for catching fish in July - recommends the fisherman's calendar. The angler's calendar recommends continuing to catch catfish on the "kwok" in July.

On hot days, fishing on the rapids and rifts with bottom fishing rods, “in wiring” and “floating” is very effective. Especially interesting and exciting is catching the path and fly fishing for ides in the rivers, where they are found in large numbers.

In July, the hot season begins, it is at this time that the fish go to the bottom, escaping from the heat. If you want to get a qualitative and quantitative catch, you need to go fishing early in the morning or late in the evening.

It is great to go fishing in July on cloudy and rainy days, when the fish become more active due to the decline in heat. However, for example, carp feel great in warm water and do not hide on the bottom of the reservoir.

Auspicious days for fishing in July are July 3-9, the period from July 12 to July 21, July 25-31. These days the fish behaves more actively, swims for any food.

Fishing may be fruitless on the following days of July: July 1-2, July 10 and 22. With varying success, fishing will take place in July on all other days of July.

Here the main role will be played by your luck, skill and the right place to catch.

Forecast of fish biting activity in June

The prediction of biting fish on a fishing trip is an exciting activity. And experienced fishermen often do not need to look either at the angler's calendar, or at the fish biting calendar for July, and even at the lunar calendar.

But it will be useful for beginners not only to study them, but also to learn that despite the unfavorable forecast for biting according to the angler's calendar, fishing can take place excellent. It's just that the worse the forecast for fish biting, the more seriously and carefully you need to prepare for fishing, focus on gear, fishing tactics and bait with baits.

Looking at the angler's calendar for June, it is clear that the forecast for biting fish in June shows that after active biting in May, there is some calm in June. How can you not remember the fishing saying: June - spit on the fish.

Do not be upset, and in June the fish will peck, however, the bite will no longer be as active as at the beginning of the season. On the new moon and full moon, the bite should be expected to be weaker than in the previous month.

The influence of the moon will affect, and in May the fish will rest from the hungry winter, will be fed and become picky.

Lunar fishing calendar 2017

Experience is a stubborn thing, like statistics - there are errors, but you can’t ignore it. Therefore, we suggest that you study and take note of the lunar fishing calendar for 2017. The influence of the moon on our planet is huge, and we often forget about it. So the tides, ebbs and other factors of influence directly affect the biting of fish, not only sea, but also river.

July is the peak of summer. It's hot, so the angler's calendar marks a stable average bite of peaceful fish in July.

Zhor, and therefore an excellent bite, in July at rudd, bream, scavenger and bleak. The largest peaceful prey can be carp.

Of the predatory fish in July, catfish are caught well on kwok and asp on spinning, in which zhor is noted. Weak biting in July for pike and perch.

Capricious in catching tench and does not want to peck burbot in July.

Every self-respecting angler dreams of a big and successful catch, but fishing is a very delicate matter and many nuances must be taken into account, and one of them is an auspicious day, which depends on the time of year, weather, moon phase and much more.

Of course, it is quite difficult to figure out all these subtleties on your own, so we will consider together with you when there are favorable days for fishing at different times of the year depending on weather conditions and other equally important phenomena.

Favorable days for fishing in June

Best of all, the beak will go in the following numbers:

  • 27 numbers.

The average catch will be:

  • 23 numbers.

A couple of fish will be able to catch:

  • 30 numbers.

Well, the nibble will be absent in:

  • 20 numbers respectively.

Remember, fishing in June is good because the fish swims much closer to the shore in search of food, and it is best to catch it on a regular spinning rod.

Near the shore you can catch:

  • Late evening walleye.
  • Early in the morning pike and perch.

It should be remembered that these types of fish are well caught exclusively on live bait.

In addition to the above-mentioned fish in June, there is a big chance to catch:

  • Pike perch on a small bait (an ordinary earthworm is best suited for this).
  • Tench is well caught on crab meat. On the same bait, you can catch bream in small reservoirs in shallow water or in pits under water.
  • It is good to catch crucian carp not only on meat bait, but also on ordinary bread crumb (it is advisable to use white bread). The same set of bait can be used for catching carp and rudd.

Auspicious fishing days in July

July can rightly be considered not the most favorable day for fishing, as unbearable heat has already begun and the fish begins to move away from the coast in search of a cool place and, as a rule, it finds them at great depths and rarely swims up in search of food.

That is why the fisherman needs to be especially vigilant at this time and know exactly when it is best to go “hunting” so as not to go home with an empty bucket.

The best time for fishing, as you already understood, is early morning (until 6 am inclusive) and late evening (starting from 9 o'clock), since at this time the sun does not burn, and the fish is near the shore or in shallow water and is looking for food .

Remember, in hot July, fish mostly hide in the thickets near the shore.

The fisherman will get the biggest catch:

  • 26 numbers.

Average catch expected:

  • 22 numbers.

Very weak prey will be:

  • 29 numbers.

The nibble will be missing in:

  • 31 numbers respectively.

You should also take into account the fact that due to the difficult search for food at this time, the fish is in constant motion.

Auspicious fishing days in May

Spring is a wonderful time. Nature wakes up, and with it fish swim out in search of food and, as a rule, they are found closest to the shore. Therefore, it is the fine days of May that are the best time for the angler to try his luck and go fishing.

But there is one significant nuance that must be taken into account before you go for the next trophy. It is at the beginning of spring that many fish begin the breeding season and at this time they are not caught (with rare exceptions).

If you urgently decide to catch something, then the best is to go spawning, as there are most of the fish there.

A good bite is expected:

  • 28 numbers.

The average bite will be:

  • 25 numbers.

There are chances to catch something, but they are minimal in:

  • 31 numbers.

The catch will not be in:

  • 21 numbers respectively.

The fish is looking for food and tries to get it at the first opportunity, and the bait on the rod is a tasty morsel, so be sure that the bite will be good during spawning.

How to catch more fish?

I have been active fishing for quite some time and have found many ways to improve the bite. And here are the most effective ones:

You can get the rest of the secrets of successful fishing for free by reading my other materials on the site.

Signs of a Good Fishing Day

There are a number of signs by which it is almost unmistakable to determine What is the best time and weather to go fishing? in order to get the maximum catch at different times of the year.

Weather

  • In the spring you can go fishing in any weather because the hungry fish are always looking for food.
  • In summer, things are a little more difficult., as it is too hot and the fish goes into deep water and if you do not have the desire to sail so far from the coast, then keep in mind that the optimal weather for fishing in summer is as follows: cloudy, but always calm day, light drizzle is possible. If you want to catch a big predatory fish, then it is recommended to go “hunting” in a thunderstorm, but not in a storm.
  • Fishing is best in autumn as the weather is always overcast and the rains stop falling only a few times a week. So, autumn is the best time for a good catch.
  • Winter is the hardest catch something, but it is also possible to get a good catch in winter fishing if the weather is calm and sunny.

Well, now, you can draw brief conclusions regarding the weather. As mentioned above, in summer the catch is better on rainy days. In early spring, almost any weather is suitable for fishing, especially on sunny days. This is due to the fact that the fish are hungry after a long winter and are less sensitive to weather changes.

During this period, it is recommended to use thin, almost imperceptible fishing lines, as the water is still clear and almost transparent. In autumn, the fish again begins to show activity in the western and eastern winds, as it feels the approaching cold.

In winter, a good catch should be expected only in calm and sunny weather, when zander and perch are actively caught. And in a strong snowstorm and frost, burbot shows activity.

So, as you can see, for a trained fisherman, the weather is not an obstacle to a really successful bite.

Now only I bite!

I caught this pike with a bite activator. No more fishing without a catch and looking for excuses for your bad luck! It's time to change everything!!! The best bite activator of 2018! Made in Italy...

Wind

And vice versa? A good catch depends on the direction of the wind. This fact is known to many fishermen and it is best to fish when the south and west winds blow, and the rest of the winds will not bring a lot of fish, as they cause a cold snap.

But, it is necessary to take into account the fact that with north and east winds, you can not hope to catch perch, carp and crucian carp for one simple reason - they are the most heat-loving fish (you can catch them with a southerly wind direction).

Everything will happen exactly the opposite, when the direction of the wind changes. The bite of heat-loving fish will be weak, and the bite of cold-loving fish will be successful.

Pressure

Let's take a look at a few examples of optimal atmospheric pressure for fishing:

  • If there is a decrease in atmospheric pressure, then it is best to go fishing with an indicator of 760 millimeters.
  • With an increase in atmospheric pressure it should be noted that the fish becomes very lethargic and because of this it takes much longer to be caught, as it begins to orient poorly in space. The optimal indicator with an increase in atmospheric pressure is 1000 millimeters (the maximum deviation from the norm may be 10 millimeters).

It's important to know: The main problem with measuring atmospheric pressure is that it is not constant (that is, every hour the difference between measurements can be several millimeters or even more). Recent studies have shown that the behavior of fish depends most of all on this indicator.

Also remember that if you intend to catch a large predator, then it is best to do this at high pressure, and when hunting for more “peaceful” fish, it is better to go out to sea at low atmospheric pressure.

More information on the subject can be found here.

How long have you had a really BIG CATCH?

When was the last time you caught dozens of HEALTHY pikes/carps/breams?

We always want to get results from fishing - to catch not three perches, but ten kilogram pikes - this will be a catch! Each of us dreams of this, but not everyone knows how.

A good catch can be achieved (and we know this) thanks to good bait.

It can be prepared at home, you can buy it in fishing stores. But it is expensive in stores, and to prepare bait at home, you need to spend a lot of time, and, to be honest, homemade bait does not always work well.

Do you know that disappointment when you bought bait or cooked it at home, and caught three or four bass?

So maybe it's time to use a really working product, the effectiveness of which has been proven both scientifically and in practice on the rivers and ponds of Russia?

It gives the very result that we cannot achieve on our own, all the more, it is cheap, which distinguishes it from other means and there is no need to spend time on manufacturing - ordered, brought and go!

Of course, it is better to try once than to hear a thousand times. Especially now - the season! When ordering, this is a great bonus!

Learn more about bait!

Gradually the day is shortened, the nights become cooler, and the water temperature also drops. The fish become more active and its biting improves in August. Don't miss the moment. Fishing in August is good because you can catch both peaceful fish and predatory fish, which begin to actively chase small fish in the water that has brightened after the death of algae. At the same time, it should be understood that the clearer the water, the more cautious and shy the fish are - so remember about disguise. Also, fishing in August is also loved because right now on the rivers you can catch such trophy fish as catfish, carp, grass carp, silver carp, carp and others, which are more difficult to catch the rest of the time. Closer to September, the fish begins to actively accumulate fat before wintering.

Fishing in August: how to fish - tackle

Fishing in August is not complete without spinning. It is in this month that spinning fishing improves dramatically - spinningists successfully catch large pikes and perches. Not bad takes asp, pike perch, chub and ide.

Good fishing in August on vents, paths and mugs which are often attacked by predators.

Floaters rush in August to go fishing for perch, which is caught for worms and fry. On a float rod in August craftsmen catch both pike on live bait and even a frog, and roach (on a worm, maggot, grasshopper, bread crumb), as well as bream, ide, dace, silver bream, silver carp (on a worm, maggot, bread crumb and millet porridge).

Fans of August fishing know that chub, dace, roach are well caught at this time. fly fishing and wired.

Good fishing in august. With the help of a donkey, a perch is caught on a fry, a chub and an ide are caught on a frog and a spindle, a trout is caught on a small fish and worms. It is worth noting that in August burbot fishing gradually begins to resume, which, having become hungry for the summer, greedily grabs live bait, spindle, worm, frog.

Fishing in August: what to fish for - bait

In August, the catching of predators improves, both on lakes and on large rivers. More and more often you can see bold bites of perch - fishing in August is traditionally good as for fry, and on an ordinary worm.

Pike, pike perch in August for lures and silicone lures. Fishing in August for pike and zander gives excellent results if you catch it with spinning “on the track”. The pike gradually begins to fatten up and prepare for winter. At the end of August, the real zhor will begin at the pike. This is the time for intensive catching of a toothy predator, which in the last decade of the month will already begin to aggressively grab any offered by the spinning spinners and wobblers.

Roach and bream in the last summer month do not mind tasting animal bait. Fishing in August for roach and bream is better for feeder and bottom tackle.

Ide and chub prefer to be caught in rivers on the frogs However, pike can also be caught with such bait.

Now let's look at the features of catching certain fish so that fishing in August is successful.

What kind of fish to catch in August

In order to remember the pleasure of fishing for a long time, you should take care of it in advance. Refresh in memory the features of behavior, taste preferences and catching various fish at this time. In this case, fishing in August will bring you a lot of pleasant minutes.

  • Fishing in August for pike

Pike fishing in August has a number of features. In the first half of the last summer month, when the water is still warm, the pike hides in the lower layers of the reservoir. At the end of August, the water gradually cools, and the activity of the pike increases, it begins to eat and actively accumulate fat for a cold winter. Since in August the days are still quite warm, and the nights are already quite cool, the main bite of pike begins in the morning, before sunrise, in cold water. Pike bites occur in the morning both on the very edge of the grass, and 1-3 meters from the grass carpet, in open water. After a cool night, pike can actively move and attack prey and spinning lures over long distances. August is an unpredictable month for pike fishing - at one time it will react to live bait, and at another time any artificial bait will work.

  • Fishing in August for zander

This river fish is very fond of running water, so the best place for catching zander in August will be a stream of water, and not where the river is wide with a slow current. If you decide to try your luck and catch pike perch in a pond, you need to remember one feature - fishing in August for pike perch will be more successful if you look for it in places with a rocky or sandy bottom. For catching zander in August, you can use wobblers, silicone twisters or vibrotails. But you need to take into account the fact that this fish has a very narrow throat, so you need to choose small baits. The technique of fishing in August for zander on spinning is practically no different from the technique of catching another predator (for example, pike). In addition, you can catch pike perch in August on a donk or mugs.

  • Fishing in August for perch

On the rivers perch stands, as a rule, in sparse thickets, preferring a slightly silty bottom. Young perch keep to the coastal zone, bays and backwaters. The larger predator prefers deep, crooked places, flooded trees, and sandy rolls. In August, finding a perch is not difficult - it is easy to calculate it by the behavior of small fish, which, escaping from it, literally jumps out of the reservoir. Accordingly, the best bait for fishing in August for perch is live bait. Not bad have also proven themselves such baits as: beetle larvae, bloodworms, small worms. Also, fishing for perch in August can be quite effective if you fish with a spinning lure or twister. It is not bad to catch perch in August and on a float fishing rod from the shore.

  • Fishing in August for catfish

In summer, the catfish is active closer from evening to dawn. It is found at the exits from the pits and at the depth differences. At night, catfish feed in the upper warm layer of water, where the depth can be only half a meter. Catfish can be seen by the characteristic champing and powerful bursts. But if there is muddy water in the reservoir, then the catfish is looking for prey during the day, as well as during rain. And before a thunderstorm, he begins to intensively and actively feed, forgetting about the dangers. August is the best time for catching catfish on donkeys, which are thrown both into the pits where the fish stands, and close to them - on the shallows where the catfish lives. When fishing with a bottom rod, the bait must be lowered to the ground in a whirlpool or on a coastal shallow at the riffle, at the exit from the pit, at the mouth of the tributary. Live fish or frogs are used as bait. Also good fishing in August for catfish for spinning with oblong baubles and wobblers.

  • Fishing in August for carp

Carp is a coveted trophy and fishing in August can give it to you. Any carp fishing in August begins with a search for promising places. If the weather is not hot, the carp feeds at depth, preferring the muddy bottom with depressions and snags. The usual depth at which carp keeps under favorable conditions is from 2 to 7 meters, but with a strong wind rising, it can visit shallow water. If the weather is very hot, you will have to look for carp in the reeds. Fishing in August for carp is more productive from 8 pm until dawn. At lunchtime, the activity of the carp is practically reduced to nothing. Feeders are usually used as fishing gear in August for carp, and cereals are used as bait. For bait, it is good to use floating micro boilies, fishing on the top is also very common.
  • Fishing in August for roach

Since the end of the month, roach biting has improved. Now she comes across not only off the coast, but also deeper and again begins to take well on the worm and bloodworm. The bite becomes more defined. A novice fisherman also knows how to catch roach in August. This fish bites quite well almost all year round, and the last month of summer is no exception. However, the angler's calendar for August contains information that towards the end of the month, roach activity increases significantly, and the chances of catching a decent specimen increase. In preferences for bait and bait, roach does not fundamentally change its tastes: worm, bread, maggot, bloodworm, caddisfly, semolina. Not bad roach is caught in August and on small spinners.
  • Fishing in August for bream

In August, the bream is also active. Like roach, it now bites better on animal baits (worm, bloodworm). But fishing does not begin at dawn, as in July, but from 8-10 o'clock. In warm and quiet weather, bream comes across during the day. The bream is a bottom fish and prefers to stay close to the bottom for most of its life. It also avoids a place with a fast current, so fishing for bream in August is better on calm parts of a reservoir or river. Bream can be found in bays, at the bends of rivers, where it is more or less calm and there is depth. With the advent of dusk or in inclement weather, the bream comes closer to the shore, so a float rod will come in handy here. And with the dawn, again rushes into the depths. When choosing a place, it should be borne in mind that this fish does not like the sandy bottom, the best bream fishing is in August in areas where the bottom is clayey and slightly silted.
  • Fishing in August for chub

The chub in August prefers to keep to deeper places with a slow current. Here it is best to catch it with a bottom fishing rod for small gudgeon, crayfish meat or barley shells, sausage or cheese cubes, chicken intestines, bread spool, river lamprey larva, frog, pieces of lard. For fishing, a rigid elastic rod with a reel is perfect. Moreover, the coil after casting must be put on the brake. If it is weak, then the fishing line can be swept over the handle of the reel to eliminate the possibility of pulling off the fishing line during sharp bites. For baits such as cubes of sausage or cheese, cancer meat, pellets of bread, it is advisable to take small triple hooks No. 5-6.

Previously on Fishing in August:

With the onset of August, fishing changes dramatically. If in the first half and even in July, the fish feeding on vegetation or benthic organisms showed the greatest activity, then in the last month of summer, predators begin to actively eat. What are the features of fishing at this time?

Features of August fishing

In the last month of summer, the air temperature drops significantly. The nights become very cold already in the second half of the month. In the morning, a thick veil of fog spreads over the ground, and abundant dew settles on the grass. The fish, tired of the endless heat, begins to come to life, feeling the approach of autumn.

Soon the water will be very cold, it's time to prepare for winter. Therefore, the fish becomes so voracious that even among peaceful representatives closer to autumn, the instincts of predators wake up. Surprisingly, in some cases they are caught on live bait, which is intended for catching, for example, pike. The water no longer blooms, the underwater thickets thin out somewhat, the grown fry have become difficult prey for predatory fish. In the struggle for food, representatives of the ichthyofauna do not pass by any bait.

Regular fishermen say that in August the fish's resistance to fighting increases sharply. They do not know how this feature of August fishing can be explained. But she has to put up with it. To do this, at the end of summer, you should use more durable equipment, this is especially true for hooks and fishing line.

Unicellular algae begin to die off, settle at the bottom of the reservoir. In this regard, the transparency of the water increases, and fish need good camouflage to save their lives at this time. The inhabitants of rivers and lakes show unprecedented caution, hiding in the bushes. In August, they can be found both in shallow areas of the reservoir and at depths.

What kind of fish is caught in August, where, when and for what?

During the day at the end of summer, fish make short migrations. During the day, it should be sought near whirlpools with a reverse flow and dams. At night, the ichthyofauna goes to the shallows closer to the coast, which is densely overgrown with grass. The best time for fishing is early morning, afternoon and evening.

In August, predators are perfectly caught, which include perch, pike and pike perch. For fishing these types of fish, spinning is used. Wobblers, spinners and vibrotails are chosen as bait. Pike actively reacts to vertical flashing. But lovers of float fishing rods catch perch for fry.

The float rod is great for fishing for ide, bream, crucian carp, silver bream, roach, dace and chub. The dace and chub are some of the favorite types of fish for anglers who prefer to fish in wiring and fly fishing. The ide bites perfectly on the frog. To be successful in fishing, you need to choose deep enough places, while the current should not be strong.

Another tackle that is considered popular in August is the donka. Good fishing for mormyshka in a plumb line, from a boat or from a raft. As bait at this time, it is best to use baits of animal origin. Vegetable is unlikely to be able to meet the needs of fish, so actively gaining fat.

Fishing August 1-7

The beginning of August portends to be a pretty good period for fishing. All these days the fish will be the same active. The moon has less influence on the fish, so the entire ichthyofauna comes to life. So for the first week of fishing in August you can expect:

  • Peckless will not disappoint you;
  • Bad biting is also not expected;
  • A good bite will continue in the period of August 1-7;
  • Excellent bite and zhora will not be observed.

In early August, the following types of fish lose activity:

  • Burbot;
  • Pike;
  • Zander.

These fish are now resting before the next period of zhora, which will come a little later. A bad bite will be at:

  • Gusters;
  • crucian;
  • perch.

You can enjoy fishing on the following representatives of the ichthyofauna:

  • chub;
  • Ruff;
  • Yelets;
  • Asp;
  • Roach;
  • minnow;

The beginning of August will be a very good time for fishing on:

  • Rudd;
  • Carp;
  • catfish;
  • bleak.

In the period from 1 to 7 August, the bite of the fish is quite good, but at this time the aggressive grip of the fish is not yet so manifest. And fish such as pike and pike perch have not yet come out to hunt. But fishing for peaceful fish is now in full swing. Fishing with baits of animal origin will be especially successful, as it will be very difficult to overfeed it. For the same reason, complementary foods should not be mixed with clay.

Fishing August 8-15

This time period cannot be called the most successful for fishing, but also very bad too. The moon is rising and the fish are losing their appetite. This is especially evident at the beginning of the second week. But at the end, after the full moon, the bite improves significantly, and the last 2 days can give the angler unforgettable moments when the float starts to twitch immediately after casting the tackle. According to the angler's lunar calendar:

  • Complete pecking is not observed in the second week of August;
  • Bad bite awaits you from August 8 to 12;
  • A good bite can be expected on the 13th;
  • Impeccable zhor will be on the 14th and 15th.

Until the middle of the last month of summer, the following fish species lose their activity:

  • Burbot;
  • Pike;
  • Zander.

These fish are now resting before the zhora period, which will come in a few days. Bad biting will be detected in fish:

  • Gusters;
  • crucian;
  • perch.

You can fish for the following representatives of the ichthyofauna:

  • chub;
  • Ruff;
  • Yelets;
  • Asp;
  • Roach;
  • minnow;

The second week of August will be the best time for fishing on:

  • Rudd;
  • Carp;
  • catfish;
  • bleak.

According to the angler's lunar calendar, it is better to devote yourself to another hobby at the beginning of the week. But the last three days will be a real paradise for the angler. But in general, the picture differs little from the one that was in the first week of August. But during this period, bream can begin to be caught, in which a strong zhor wakes up, the same applies to predatory fish species such as pike perch and pike. If their bites are still random, then in the second half of August their activity will increase dramatically.

Fishing August 16-23

The third week of August will be the most successful for spinning anglers, since at this time not only the general activity of fish increases, but also the appetite of predators. The moon is decreasing, which makes the fish feed actively at first, and when the moon becomes very small, it calms down. Therefore, you should not go fishing on August 23. In any case, the angler's lunar calendar says that:

  • You will meet a complete lack of bite only on the 23rd;
  • There will be no bad bite;
  • A good bite is observed on the 20-22nd;
  • You will notice a strong zhor on August 16-19.

Stops catching fish

  • Carp.

The appetite of the following representatives of the ichthyofauna decreases:

  • Guster;
  • Burbot;
  • Tench;
  • Pike.

In relation to burbot, of course, it cannot be said that the appetite has decreased. On the contrary, he appeared: for the first two summer months he was in no hurry to hook. But a good cool will please:

  • Chub;
  • Dace;
  • Asp;
  • Gudgeon;
  • Roach;
  • Zander.

A strong bite will begin in fish:

  • Rudd;
  • Carp;
  • Bleak.

Despite the fact that the bream preferred to rest in the first half of the month, by the end of the summer, it starts eating sharply. Moreover, there is no transition period. The bream is not caught at all, does not bite. But then you throw the tackle, there is a bite, hooking, hauling - and a bream hangs on the hook. Then you cast again, and again you pull out the bream.

Fishing August 24-31

The moon ceases to sufficiently illuminate water bodies, and this greatly affects the behavior of the ichthyofauna. The end of summer is clearly the worst period for fishing in August. The first half of the final week does not give hope for any significant catch at all. At the end of August, fortune takes the side of the fisherman. According to the angler's lunar calendar:

  • The bite is completely absent from the 23rd to the 27th;
  • Bad bite will be on the 28th and 29th;
  • A good bite can be expected on the 30th and 31st;
  • You can’t count on a strong zhor at the end of summer.

Still not lovable:

  • Carp.

The appetite of the following representatives of the ichthyofauna is far from good:

  • Guster;
  • Burbot;
  • Tench;
  • Pike.

But a good cool will please:

  • Chub;
  • Dace;
  • Asp;
  • Gudgeon;
  • Roach;
  • Zander.

Fish will have a strong zhor:

  • Rudd;
  • Carp;
  • Bleak.

Despite the fact that predators do not show such activity as it happens in autumn, fishing for them is very effective. But the spinningists are still ahead, since with the beginning of autumn the peak of pike and zander will begin. In August, productive fishing for peaceful representatives of the ichthyofauna is still possible, but soon it will become impossible. Therefore, be sure to take advantage of the moment when you can fish out a record specimen of crucian carp or bream.
