The diseases listed in points 1-10 are absolute contraindications for fasting. Whereas the presence of the diseases listed in paragraphs 11-16 are relative contraindications: fasting in such situations is sometimes possible, but only after the permission of the attending physician.

And even if you consider yourself an absolutely healthy person, it is always recommended to undergo a full examination and consult a doctor before you start fasting for the first time!

Stages of therapeutic fasting

To get the maximum effect from fasting, cleanse the body and lose weight without harming your health, you must strictly follow the steps and rules of therapeutic fasting!

Stage 1. Preparation

Regardless of how long you plan to fast, you always need to pre-prepare the body for this.

The preparatory stage can last from 1 to 3-5 days. It all depends on your capabilities and physiological needs. The purpose of this procedure is to remove the food load from the body as much as possible, reduce the amount of toxins that enter it with food, and carry out preliminary cleaning.

The stage of preparation for fasting is to exclude “heavy” food from the diet. Give up fatty, fried, preservatives, meat, sugar, salt, rolls and white bread. This is a kind of diet, which is based on the consumption of large amounts of fiber, vitamins, healthy carbohydrates. At this time, try to drink as much fresh juice as possible, eat cereals, vegetables and fruits.

This process should be painless, because it does not require a complete rejection of any food component (for example, proteins or carbohydrates), but is based on a healthy and wholesome diet!

Approximate diet during preparation for fasting:

  1. Breakfast: fruit or oatmeal. As a dessert, you can eat dried fruits.
  2. Afternoon snack: freshly squeezed juice or fruit.
  3. Lunch: any cereal porridge on the water, salad.
  4. Early dinner: vegetable salad.
  5. Dinner: homemade low-fat yogurt.

If you are preparing for fasting for only one day, then completely give up dinner, and at lunch try to limit yourself to salad. Drink plenty of juices and water in the morning.

Stage 2. Fasting

During the fast itself, you should follow only 2 rules: drink plenty of clean water and walk in the fresh air. It is recommended to drink at least 2-2.5 liters of water every day.

Fluid is needed to make it easier for the body's excretory systems to remove toxins. Walking is recommended for the same purpose. If you feel strong in yourself, you can even perform simple physical exercises.

On the 3rd-4th day of fasting, many have a crisis, and their health deteriorates sharply. Do not panic, this is normal, because it is during this period that the main cleansing of the body begins. And if your condition is not critical, then you don’t have to go to the doctor: walking, physical activity and water will help you get back to good health in 1-2 days. The main thing is not to lie still and force yourself to get up from the couch, no matter how hard it is for you!

Stage 3. Exit from starvation

At the end of fasting, you need to follow the basic rule: the number of days out of fasting should be equal to the duration of your fasting.

The way out of fasting is to gradually "accustom" the body to food. Food should begin to be taken in the form of diluted juices, the ratio of water and juice at the beginning should be no more than 1 to 5. Gradually increase the concentration of juice. After you start drinking completely undiluted juices, you can switch to solid foods.

Start with a small amount of light fiber in a grated form. It can be pureed vegetables, raw or steamed, fruit smoothies. Gradually start eating solid vegetables and fruits, make light salads, cook cereals in water without oil and salt. When the body gets used to fiber, and the digestion process is restored, introduce low-fat dairy products and vegetable fats into the diet.

And remember the main thing: your food should be sparse and fractional, eat very small portions, but often! So it will be much easier for the body to restore digestive function.

If you strictly follow all the steps described, then the fasting process will be as painless as possible for you. And even after fasting an average duration of 7-10 days, you will noticeably lose weight and improve your health. And to maintain good results after that, it will be enough just to follow a healthy diet.
