Alexei Nemov was born on May 28, 1976 in the Mordovian village of Barashevo. Alexei's childhood cannot be called easy - the mother raised her son alone, and therefore often faced various difficulties. Soon the family moved to Tolyatti. Alexei was not even five years old when his mother first brought him to a sports school; but Lyosha was not taken there - he was not suitable for his age.

A year and a half later, the famous coach Irina Shestakova was recruited to the gymnastic group at the sports school. Visiting kindergartens and asking teachers about their wards, Irina independently selected children for her group. Once she looked into the kindergarten in which Alexei was brought up. While seating the children for dinner, the teacher noticed that Nemov was missing, then the children told her that he had remained in the playroom. It turned out that Lyosha hid here when the others went to wash their hands, and then, left alone, persistently tried to light a cigarette. But, despite such a scandalous situation, the boy was not punished - it was decided to send him to Shestakova's gymnastic group for "re-education". So Nemov ended up in the gymnastics group. Now, from kindergarten, his mother did not take him home, but to training.

A little more than six months, Alexey remained in Shestakova's group, who, going on maternity leave, transferred him to the group of another coach, Pavel Denisov, where the future champion worked out for about a year. According to the coaching records, Alexei studied satisfactorily, had high coordination, but did not have sufficient physical data, he was cocky and impudent. Despite this, even then he was considered a promising athlete. But still, Denisov, who was leading two groups at that time, decided to distribute Nemov and other weak guys into groups of other masters. So, in 1983, the master of sports in gymnastics, Honored Coach of Russia Evgeny Grigorievich Nikolko became Alexei's coach. It was Nikolko who began intensively training with Nemov, conducting two or three workouts a day.

“I was very quick-tempered, and if something didn’t work out for me, I cried, then cursed. When successes appeared, many told me at the moment of shouting: “What are you doing? Who are you to act like this?" But it wasn't that I thought too much of myself. I just always worried about my work. Strongly, to the point of desperation. How else can you express this despair? ... "

Alexey changed several schools, as he spent more time in the gym than in the classroom, and as a result he was expelled "because of the sport." Nemov received his higher education as a coach at the Togliatti branch of the Samara Pedagogical University, graduating in 1999.

“And the brains should always be in business. After all, sport is not only a talent. You will be without brains and doing something on one talent - nothing will come of it. In fact, the coach always said about me: you are not talented, you are capable.

“There were many accidents in the life of little Lesha Nemov. Coaches could easily walk past him. But when today I analyze the chain of these cases, I am more and more convinced that this boy was destined to become a gymnast. Lesha was really weak, physically unprepared. But on the trampoline he was spinning like a top: dexterous, tenacious, "twisted" ... It came from nature, from God - such "tricks" cannot be taught.

With Lesha, we began to work very intensively. Lessons at school started at 12 o'clock, and every morning the boy came to practice. Then study. At seven in the evening - the second training, after which he went home, did his homework, and in the evening for forty minutes he ran to "jump" on the trampoline ... Leshka lived across the street from the Sports Palace and always resorted to training with pleasure. He is nimble, groovy by nature. I was very afraid that I would expel him from the group. I had to scare him - he was in tears. Lesha strongly held on to gymnastics. ”

“You need to torture yourself in something to get the result. In any job. Limit yourself, do not give vent to emotions. If you don’t press yourself in life, you won’t get anything.”

“It’s not easy with Lesha. Because he is a person, and he needs a special approach. You have to adapt to him, sometimes even playing the role of a supposedly weaker one. For example, Lesha does not like it when mistakes are directly pointed out to him. He doesn't like it when he's being teased. Even after successful performances, when I pat him on the shoulder, he is offended: "Evgenyich (this is short for Evgeny Grigorievich), don't." The guy does not tolerate paternal familiarity and in such cases usually distances himself. He rarely talks to me, because he is used to always making decisions himself. Most often, he does not need advice, but support. So it was in the issue with the family, when Lesha decided to marry a girl with a child. Many condemned him for this, and I said: “Lesh, there are no advisers in love. Since you have chosen, it means I support you.”

“His back has been injured since childhood. Lyosha, when he was still small - his mother told me - fell on an iron bucket ... When the sports doctor then examined the child, he said: trouble with his back. Therefore, for Lesha, I even developed a special set of exercises. Before the start, I pay the closest attention to the guy: a good massage, I crumple, I press my back, I work for about twenty minutes. How does he manage to win with such a back?.. He endures. And Lesha’s boarding is almost perfect: he gets up tightly, because this guy has an innate instinct for a gymnast.” - says Evgeny Nikolko.

“You know, I suddenly remembered something - when I was just getting into gymnastics, I received food stamps. And sometimes he exchanged them for money, did not go to eat. After all, my mother and I lived together, so when I began to receive money and brought home these 67 rubles, she always greeted me with the words: “The owner has come!”

Wife - Galina. They met at the Krugloye Lake sports and training base. The athlete trained there, Galina worked as an administrator. At that moment, Galina was married, from her first marriage she has a son, Eugene. But in the end she left with Alexei for Togliatti.

The couple has two common sons - Alex and Dmitry.

At the age of 15, the eldest son Eugene got into a serious accident: he and his girlfriend crashed on a moped. The girl died on the spot, and his life hung in the balance, and only the participation of Alexei Nemov helped save the guy: the famous gymnast, through his connections, found a first-class neurosurgeon.

The small homeland of Alexander Yurievich Nemov is the small Mordovian village of Barashevo, where he was born on May 28, 1976. After some time, the family moved to Tolyatti with their son.

He started doing gymnastics when he was five years old. His mother brought him to the gymnastics section. It’s hard to believe now, but then the coaches considered the future legendary gymnast not a very suitable candidate for playing sports. They believed that the boy was too weak and did not think that the activities of their ward had any prospects. however, the boy stubbornly continued training. The first eminent coach who saw great potential in a stubborn young man was the honored coach of Russia E.P. Nikolko, thanks to whose skill and wisdom success came to the boy very quickly: in 1989, Alexander won a prize at the youth competition for the championship of the USSR. Who knows how the career of a young athlete would have developed if not for this brilliant debut. 1990 turned out to be no less successful - first place at the Spartakiad among the youth of the USSR. A year later, Alexei began to actively participate in international competitions. In the period from 1991 to 1993, as an active participant in them, he won prizes in the absolute championship and in competitions in certain types of the program.

Nemov systematically won awards one after another, and eventually in 1993 he won the most prestigious award at that time in the competition for the RSFRS Cup in the all-around, and the Stars of the World championship did not go without prizes - third place was won for Russia. 1994 turned out to be for an athlete one of the most fruitful: victory in the Russian Championship, the fourth victory in the Goodwill Games, second and three first places in the European Championship, in addition, he was out of competition at the World Championships in 1995 and 1996.

Ahead of the athlete were the XXVI Olympic Games in Atlanta ... According to the results, he brings 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze to the treasury of his team.

The XXVII Olympic Games were marked by the total expansion of the Russian gymnast, the rivals had no chance, all the gold medals went to Russia. By the way, Nemov is one of those athletes who, selflessly devoting themselves to their favorite work, do not forget about other areas: in 1999 he received a diploma from the Togliatti branch of the Samara Pedagogical University.

However, in addition to numerous successes, fate prepared for the athlete and trials: shortly before the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Alexei was injured, but despite this he decided to participate in them. A decent, though not brilliant, performance was rated very low by the judges. The crowd of thousands of spectators clearly did not agree with this and for fifteen minutes the applause did not stop in the hall, because of which the other participants in the competition could not enter the platform in any way. The judges revised the scores, but still failed to win a medal. There is an opinion that this was arranged for the athlete in order to prevent him from winning the third Olympic award in a row, but, alas, there is no real evidence of this, and the case remained an unpleasant incident. Nemov demonstrated by his own example that talent can bear fruit only if it is complemented by personal qualities, such as determination, the will to win, courage. It is no coincidence that he is the owner of the Order of Courage, and the recognition that he is the best athlete on the planet from the World Sports Awards in London in 2000.

A family

Alexei Nemov is happily married. He lives in Nakhabino with his wife Galina and two children.

The history of their acquaintance was also connected with sports. The fact is that Galina lived in a house for the attendants of a sports base called Lake Krugloye, and this is the place of constant training for the Russian national gymnastics team.

Galina worked in the hall: kept order, answered phone calls. Soon she met Alexei. They became friends, began to spend more time together, and one fine day they realized that it was becoming more and more difficult for them to part. However, Galina was married at that time, they raised a son with her husband. The decision to leave the family and create a new one with Alexei was not easy for her, but she does not regret her choice. Alexei also faced a difficult task: to make friends with Zhenya, Galina's son from his first marriage. At first, not everything went smoothly: the little boy was jealous of his mother for her chosen one and did not want to make contact, but after a while everything got better.

On the eve of the 2002 Olympics, a very joyful event happened in the family: a boy was born to Alexei and Galina, who was named Alyosha.

Today, the youngest son has followed in his father's footsteps: he already has a silver medal in his sports “piggy bank”.

After leaving the sport, Alexei began to implement his own bold ideas. He began to organize colorful shows for the audience with the participation of sports stars.

In 2006, the project "Legend of Sports" was launched - a unique show with performances by famous and novice gymnasts. Alexey became its producer, organizer, and also a participant. Alina Kabaeva, Irina Chashchina, Elena Zamolodchikova, Nikolai Podgorny and many other famous gymnasts took part in the colorful performance.

2007 was the year of birth of the Flights of Time program. It was a masterpiece of masterpieces, combining acrobatics, trampolining and, of course, elements of artistic gymnastics into a single whole. "Visual dessert" was complemented by pleasant music and light special effects. According to Alexei, such shows are created by him not only to entertain the public, but also a way to popularize rhythmic gymnastics as a sport, to show the young generation the results of the hard work of athletes, thanks to which they have become the idols of millions.

A third show, Pulse of Victory, was launched in 2008. The concept of the project was based on the idea to present a visual demonstration of the history of the Olympic Games, so it is not surprising that the performance turned out to be extremely large-scale - 200 participants, in particular, numbers performed jointly by gymnasts and figure skaters

At the XXVI Olympic Games in Atlanta (USA), Alexei Nemov becomes a two-time Olympic champion, receives two gold, one silver and three bronze medals. In 1997, he won a gold medal at the World Championships in Switzerland. In 2000, Alexey Nemov won the World and European Championships, became the winner of the World Cup. At the XXVII Olympic Games in Sydney, Alexey became the absolute champion, having won six Olympic medals: two gold, one silver and three bronze.

Nemov came to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens as a clear favorite and leader of the Russian team, but the injury he received before the Olympics made itself felt, but despite this, the athlete showed a high class and performed quite confidently. However, the performance of the athlete was overshadowed by a judicial scandal: after the performance on the crossbar, the scores were clearly underestimated, which did not please the spectators present in the stands of the Olympic arena, who stood for 15 minutes with incessant applause and supported the athlete, preventing the next (American) athlete from entering the platform, until Alexei himself did not come out and did not ask the audience to sit down. Under pressure, the judges revised the scores, but even after the revision, they were not enough to receive a medal. After this incident, a scandal erupted at the Olympics, and some judges were removed from judging, and an official apology was made to the athlete.
